Batman - Bruce and Diana sitting in a tree...

Green Lanterns - Interesting resolution, could have been a little better.

Harley Quinn - They always say the female of the species is the more deadly.

Justice League - Super fan? turns against the heroes; been there, done that. Interesting take that he help build the Watchtower and knows all their secrets.

Super Sons - Not too sure about the ending.
2 page spread and that was it.
Loved the montage of images, especially Crisis.
So does this mean Cassie, Conner and the rest may be coming some day?
The afterward could have been a little better.

Superman - Nice story. Like how some of the stories focused around the general public, rather than the heroes.
Someone should have told the writer Hal Jordan isn't on Earth right now and either Simon or Jessica should have provided transport.

Trinity - Nice beginning to the Skartaris saga.

My thoughts on Charles' thoughts:

I really DIDN'T like that Diana and Bruce mash up then. I still don't like it now.

GL: Well I mean Simon has proven to be a really weird GL at times.

I actually LIKED the SuperFan angle. It plays better than "Government shuts down the JLA".

As for Super Sons: I DO hope Connor, Cassie and Bart might show up again...but who the hell knows?

The Superman story is something I'd take to a Hollywood exec type and say "Here. This is Superman. Make THAT kind of movie."

DC comics to relaunch everything with #1s again this summer with a film/tv bent. At least according to Bleeding Cool. I have not yet seen anything official from DC related to this, but at this point I very likely believe that this is happening.

And I'm very pissed. I think Comics Beat had a good article about all this even before this story broke out.

So yeah. New reboot. Yay.

Not only am I in favor of DC Comics relaunching everything (again) this summer, I wish they would start doing it monthly. That way each month would start over again with #1 issues.

I'm okay with out #1 issues. Also those links are from 2 years ago...

So is the post he replied to.

It's almost like necroing a living thread.

Weird...

Re Super Sons. I found it interesting that Beast boy 'almost' recognized Cassie. I mean is he really that big of an idiot? "Hmm, we were attacked by future Tim Drake (aside I almost wrote 'Time Drake') and now he shows up with a blond Wonder Woman? Who could she be?" Now about the Blond Wonder girl you were in a book with, idiot!

Re Super Woman Yeah, that was a mess, the 'merged Superman/Lois' really messed that up, so now you have a Lois that died and got powers and got them from her husband who she wasn't seeing dying... I liked it better when Superman52 and Lois52 were separate from Superdad and Lois Mom.

That said, I love Superdad and Lois and Jon.

Matthew,

To be fair to Beast Boy, he's had a rough go of it after everything with Tim and the first batch of Titans..

Superwoman was never going to fly once they merged Nu52 Superman and Nu52 Lois back with their Pre-Flashpoint selves. But it was fun while it lasted!

Can I just go on the record and state that I really, REALLY don't like what they've done with Tim since the New 52 reboot?

Like, I REALLY REALLY REALLY don't like it.

Tim's a great character, and they've just been throwing garbage all over him.

I'm at Madeline Kahn "Mrs. White" levels of flames out of my face, here.

At least he still exists. This Titan's Tomorrow stuff is the first time we've seen any of the Young Justice team in ages.

Frequency would have been a better name than Signal.

Hell, I'll even take Frequency, the Signal Knight.

Freehold,

That almost makes sense.

Jem,

Not sure I'm burnout since I have to care enough about DC to want it to be better. That stopped some time pre-Flashpoint.

So...

Doomsday Clock. Kind of out there but...maybe doing good stuff?

I do know this: both Action Comics and Hal Jordan and the GL are connecting more broadly than I previously thought.

This was the one with the kids and the hospital, yeah? I just got my shipment of comics from my old friendly-local-comic-shop and this one was right at the top.

It was so good. And so very Superman.

Jem,

That's the one.

I honestly feel like the DC Superman writers have been thumbing their noses at the WB film folks for several issues, and it's kind of great.

It's certainly better than them kowtowing to the films...

Finally read Deadman #3 over the weekend.
All I have to say is they better not leading up to

Spoiler:
Boston Brands lost brother, who was given to the League of Assassins, is The Hook.

New Suicide Squad.. Well.. that is certainly why one does not want super powers.

Manny,

I didn't much care for this two part-er.

Charles,

I wouldn't know. I gave up after the last Deadman series had him talking to Lucifer

Yea, Suicide Squad is more, IMO, tossing the c-listers in to thin the backlog of baddies rather than grinding up nobodies.

I liked it.

I'll like seeing more Metal...which is good since #5 is out tomorrow.

So the penultimate issue of Metal...isn't quite what I expected but at least it didn't totally screw over people. Like much of the retcons have of late.

Flash War looks...weird but interesting if only because Zoom is playing his hand into this game. But how and what his game plan is, is unclear.

Dectective Annual's new origin for Clayface reads a lot like his BtAS version, with a few nods to other things.

Yeah, I thought Clayface's origin got very muddled. (No pun intended.)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Not sure I'd say muddled so much as "Let's pull from stuff people liked and re-write it with more horror elements!"

Sovereign Court RPG Superstar 2009 Top 32, 2010 Top 8

seems to combine Basil and Hagan's origins. At least we got to meet Veronica. I wonder if clayface III is still in continuity, I know Lady Clayface is.

Matthew,

Well yes but it also draws from BaTS it seems. But I could be wrong.

As for Lady Clayface...no clue.

Batman - Two honorable very good friends. The dates jumping around was interesting.
Green Lanterns - Of course an Omega Man is going to be declared a terrorist by the Vega System. Hopefully she isn't working with the kidnappers. Also, hopefully they ditched the Nu52 story line.
Harley Quinn - Fell asleep on couch.
Justice League - See above.
Superman - Superman imposing his will on others. That is so out of character.
Swamp Thing Winter Special - Last story by Len Wien. :`(
Young Monsters in Love - Interesting take. Frankenstein, Swamp Thing, I Vampire, The Demon and others. A mixed bag of horror & love lost and found.

For Batman, I didn't think much of this story compared to when Lois and Clark met with Selena and Bruce for that night out.

GL: By all the gods NO ROMANCE between those two! NONE! If you want to give them significant others, fine, but not Simon and Jessica as a couple! HELL NO!

Justice League: I read it...but it didn't make that much sense other than seeing Barry try to defy the laws of physics in space. Barely.

Superman - I didn't see it as impose his will so much as "Really? You all want to go boom and I'm supposed to stand here??!"

Swamp Thing Special: Confused but lots of snow.

Young Monsters in Love: some nice vignettes along with a few decent looks. Mostly I'm wondering who Lady Frankstein's new girlfriend is.

Read The Terrifics last night. Pretty good start. Not too crazy that they are trapped in the Dark Matterverse, but it may grow. The woman is Phantom Girl's ancestor, but can't control her powers.

Can't wait till winter is over, cause picking my books up once every 2 months hurts my wallet something fierce. Plus it took me two days to read through the backlog.

adding my voice to the NO GL Romance. Partners, Friends and leave it there. no romance. just NO!

Interesting take away from the Titans Tomorrow, Kon-el indicating that he and Superman simply haven't met yet.

Grey,

Well they haven't. I mean they might if Lex gets around to trying to clone Superman...again.

But the Terrifics is definitely giving me more of an FF vibe than some others. Which is kind of sad...

Well, it's nice to see that the Controllers continue to follow the Guardians tradition of F'king up.

You can really tell they come from the same root.

This July, the ever-expanding Crayola Corps brings you...the Ultraviolet Lantern!

I wish that was a joke.

Damon,

It's no more a joke than Darkseid joining the Justice League. Admittedly it's not the MAIN Justice League but still...

Also Grey is correct, never trust Maltusians to run ANYTHING. Though I keep thinking maybe what happened is the Darkstars are being turned into Manhunters...of a sort.

The Guardians get a lot of grief... but to be fair their failures have really only been an issue since the first Crisis. Prior to that they had like a Bazillion years of doing a halfway decent job of keeping order in the universe. A few major setbacks in the last 30 years shouldn't erase ALLLLL the good they and their Green Lanterns have done.

hey. I f$%$ing LOVE the other corps.

Darkseid in the Justice League...I don't care what awful thing is coming, that doesn't work for me.

For that matter, Lobo in the Justice League...I don't care what Batman's rationale was, that doesn't work for me.

Or prior failures were just more effectively covered up.

Okay, yours is certainly one valid point of view. But where does it end? In addition to the seven color corps-ordinated groups* representing the "emotional spectrum" (and nice try, DC, but "Willpower" and "Avarice" are not emotions) we've already had black, white, and a full-spectrum Phantom Ring.

*including two colors that last I heard were represented by one Lantern each: Blue (still just Saint Walker?) and Orange (Larfleeze doesn't like to share, right?) I admit I'm not current.

i think that is more or less where it ends.

If they are doing an ultraviolet lantern, what about infrared?

What is the Lantern color for "Meh, whatever"?

Good enough.

You'll never be able to 'run the universe' without a few glitches here and there... and if they were as big of screw ups as they've presented lately.... they wouldn't have been able to cover it up.

The fact that they've at least APPEARED to have a solid grasp on the big picture and micromanaging... says a lot for their competence.

The guardians have really gotten the Professor X level of retcon screwing around.

Mean while Supes turned 80 and got 1,000 issues. But still not clear why DC has hired Bendis...

Thomas Seitz wrote:

Agreed.

The last three events they've done have had a running theme of 'Where has the hope gone, how did everything get so dark and gritty...'

Bringing BENDIS of all people on just blows my mind. Starting with Avengers disassembled and New Avengers and House of M... he's almost single handly responsible for a whole decade of darkening the Marvel universe. And they put him on SUPERMAN?!?!

He seems the exact OPPOSITE of whatever we told Rebirth was all about...

Man I hope Jon survives whatever Bendis has planned, that kid is the best thing to happen to Superman in a long time. Being a Dad just brings out the best in him.

I liked house of m.

That's about it.

I wish that was a joke.

I wrote up an Ultraviolet Lantern set in the Legion future. His ring manipulated energy invisible to human (and most alien) perception, and kept him invisible most of the time, as his role was as an internal police force for the other lanterns...

I'm amused that DC has decided to make Ultraviolet Lanterns, although I imagine their version will be nothing like mine. :)

Plaid Lanterns will no doubt be next.
