I stand corrected!

She's who you call when not even Spidey can save the day, you are correct there.

When they did that first "Renew your Vows" story during Secret Wars event. The whole story revolved around the villain, who had aquiered the powers of half the superheroes of New York so he could fight God-Doom, needed Spider-Man's powers above all others.

Without Spider-Man's power God-Doom would Crush him, but once he had Spider-Man his victory was certain.

Grey,

You mean the Regent. Yes but I guess he didn't think Squirrel Girl was needed because I never SAW Squirrel Girl in Secret Wars.

Coincidence? I think not.

Well I've seen the mini-comic/ashcan of Doomsday Clock #1 and am not pleased.

Spoiler:
It follows Watchmen and shows that Rorsarch's journal was published and believed. Wayyy too many real life stuff smashed in.

Manny,

Eh. I'm weighing it against what Metal is offering and we'll see how it plays out. Especially with "Mister Oz" and stuff.

It has only been a year plus.
DC said it would be 3 years for it all to be explained.

As for Metal, so far it has been meh.
As for the GL Ring, I think it must have been flawed.
A measly 200% will power was able to overpower it.

I thought it was more than 200% but okay...

But yeah 2 more years before we see payoff.

Metal isn't "Meh" as it is "Stuff I liked" versus "Stuff that was kind of dumb."

Can you point me to an article?

I have looked for an article that talks about a 3 year plan, but haven't found one.
I may just be repeating what was mentioned in this thread.

The Tim/Batman situation is looking interesting. Nothing like discovering your timeline is in flux to motivate you into make some changes

Scarab Sages

Action:
Jor-El is showing Kal-El all the bad things that are happening in the world.
But all the people doing it have his mark on them.
He also gave them the weaponry they are using.
If he had not enable them by given them all the bad toys, most of the bad stuff would not be happening.

Supergirl:
Why is everyone down on Supergirl about wanting to cure her father?
When she was fighting him, she did not hide the fact that he was her father.
What is wrong about visiting a father who is incarcerated?
Was she supposed to hold a press conference whenever she wanted to visit him?

Batgirl and Birds of Prey:
Anti-male super-bug.
Lot of Girl Power showing up.

Charles,

Not sure THAT logic is true. But I will agree he's trying to push Kal down that road. Thing I read more into is getting his GRANDSON to buy into his ideal world.

As for what Supergirl is going through, I think the public at large is kind of down on people that commit mass murder, even if they have family. Charles Manson anyone?

Grey,

Yeah it's gotten weird but at the same time it feels like Titans Tomorrow is also fluxing in ways. I just wish Conner was still there.

Saw an ad for the upcoming Metal event, wherein all the Dark Batmen face off against the heroes of the DCU ("Including Detective Chimp!") and I am once again disappointed that Batman has become the linchpin for the entire DC Continuity.

Morrison helped do this in his "Batman is the last living person alive in the universe thanks to the library at the end of time" thing, and the whole "Quest For Bruce Wayne" didn't help...

But this is kind of ridiculous.

Pffftt. We all know it was Tim Hunter who was there with Destiny and Death

Jem,

Well Detective Chimp DID run with the others to save the world. So he might be smart enough to handle Barbatos' Dark Knights.

As for Tim Hunter, he's probably still trying to figure out what continuity he's in.

A better one.

That I miss.

With Molly.

Who I miss more than Tim.

Does anyone know anything about Barbatos?
There isn't a Wiki listing for him in the DC Universe.
The only thing I can find is that he is in command of one of Hell's legions.

Charles,

Best I can find is this: Barbatos

Jeff,

Who's Molly?!!

Jeff,

Molly O'Reilly.

Tim's ex-girlfriend.

Oh HER!....yeah she didn't strike me as important...

Heretic!

Liked the limited series, wasn't too thrilled with the series.
I quit reading it before Molly appeared.

Heretic!

I've been called worse.

Ok here is an odd question that kind of popped up today.

Has anyone ever tried using Kirbey's New Gods as a Pantheon for Pathfinder/D&D?

No because it doesn't make sense. I mean you have the New Gods, who live in harmony but at the same time, the 'bugs' are pretty much second class citizens that serve at the whims of the New Gods who are supposed to be better than the guys on Apokolips. But clearly they aren't.

Thomas Seitz wrote:

Sounds like it should fit right in in a D&D game.

New Gods are just plain too weird to me. They seem to be a rather long pot/substance use reference.

Bjorn,

I doubt even in a D&D game they'd make sense...

Pathfinder Campaign Setting, Companion Subscriber

I don't know.

Darkseid is your god of evil and tyranny who would enslave all life to his will.
Orion is god of Battle with a noble heart and a burning rage.
Lonar a God of exploration and travel who distains the other gods for the worlds of men. Riding across the world on his silver steed

Grey,

It's your game then. Do with it as you will.

Same.

(Also, I have never been able to successfully get a game started that was based on the whole "Opener" storyline from the Books Of Magic, but one day, I still may...)

Right now I keep wondering if Titans Tomorrow Tim Drake will try to alter the timeline but at the same time bring back Connor and Bart.

Can we get Real Connor and Real Bart while we're at it, and not the Lobdell-mutated poor imitations thereof?

Jem,

We'll see come January.

So...Bryce Wayne is our Drowned Batwoman then? Kind of...weird...I guess...

Scarab Sages

Paizo Superscriber; Starfinder Charter Superscriber

Just saw preview for January.
Many new titles coming out that are Metal Aftermaths.
One of them is The Terrifics.
Lineup is Mr. Terrific, Metamorpho, Plastic Man and Phantom Girl.
That will be 2 members of The Legion of Superheroes and 1 from The Legion of Supervillains.

Question 1: How many people from the 31st Century are traveling back to the 21st Century?
Did something happen to their Time Bubble (ala The Time Trapper/Dr. Manhattan)?

Question 2: How come Saturn Girl has chosen to stay in Arkham Asylum?
With her powers, she could have easily learned the language and kept people from noticing her as she was stealing food before she was arrested for vagrancy.
Is she using Arkham as a base of operations?

Charles,

Answer to you question: More than the Legion I can assure you. Giffen's JLA 3001 is in Blue Beetle.

Also Phantom Girl isn't the Legionnaire version.

As for what happened with Saturn Girl, no one is quite sure but I'd assume we'll find out post Metal.

Pathfinder Campaign Setting, Companion Subscriber

ah geez....

why for you do that Future Tim?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Can we talk for a minute about how Kurt Busiek reached down into our guts and tore our hearts out in Astro City?

Because I cried like a baby.

If it is Phase from L.E.G.I.O.N., she ended up being Phantom Girl of Legion who was retconned to having a Carggite father like Triplicate Girl.

Her father stole 2 of the girls shortly after birth and sold them to pay off gambling debts.
When the two of them met, they merged with each other.
The Legion one was the dominant personality.
They later split apart and each went with their teams.
They never resolved what happened to the third one.

Why.... is legion getting weird?

Freehold,

Because DC has too many people writing too many conflicting stories.

Also Grey, Future Tim did that because he wants a different future...but apparently didn't remember or didn't know about the whole Future's End thing.

Pathfinder Campaign Setting, Companion Subscriber

I know what he wants, this just seems like such a bad choice at getting it.

That thing is Batman's biggest mistake, born from the darkest parts of Paranoia-Bat

Tim should know that
Future Tim should know that

Bad Tim....Bad <rolled up newspaper time>

Grey,

I'm guessing he figures "I got no choice"...or something.

Scarab Sages

Was anyone else as disappointed by the first issue of Black Lightning as I was?

Tobias Whale, again? Can't they come up with a different villain?

And framing the hero for killing the riff-raff in the very first issue? Been there, done that.

How unoriginal is this new book going to be?

Pretty unoriginal. I wasn't expecting something new and ground breaking from DC, honestly.

At least Metal has some cool moments...

Pathfinder Campaign Setting, Companion Subscriber

ok so.....our big villain (possibly Dr. Manhatten) now has his hands on both Superman and Batman's fathers. (or a version of him at anyrate in the case of Thomas.)

Grey,

Well sort of for Thomas. But yeah it appears he did pick up Papa Jor-el for a bit and had Kryptonite infect his brain.

Scarab Sages

Paizo Superscriber; Starfinder Charter Superscriber

How come everyone assumes the big-bad is Dr. Manhattan?
Just because is is so powerful, we automatically think he must be the one behind everything.
What if someone else is behind it, and the good doctor is trying to stop him, or has somehow been captured?
Things to think about.
