Sage Familiar Skill Ranks per Level

Rules Questions

I had a question on sage familiars.

Dazzling Intellect states that sage familiars receive 2 skill ranks per level. Is this modified by the familiar's intelligence modifier at all, or is it just a flat 2 ranks per level from 1 through 20 and that's all they get?

Dazzling Intellect does not grant skill points.

According to the way it is written, Sage's Knowledge grants it 2 skill points per level. No more. Nor does it share the mater's skill ranks. If you invest those points into knowledge each level, the training bonus, +1/2 level, and high Int should eventually make his Knowledge skill bonuses pretty good. Maybe there is an errata though.

Wouldn't be errata. But, I would ask Mark Seifter in his Ask Anything thread. He wrote most of the familiar archetypes and can tell you what his intention was.

Right, only looked quickly at which ability granted it.

Thank you both for the speedy response. I'll have to figure out how much further I want to take the question. I'll only be playing the character once.

I think that you only get the 2 per level. The +1/2 per level is basically equivalent to 4 free points per level put into Knowledge.

Biggest advantage of the Sage is that it allows you to not bother spending any of your own ranks on knowledge, and can focus on other skills.
