@@oldrolero... I really want to like the mutation fighter but as you pointed out..only 12 int and 2+ int kinda stinks.

@Gisher I'm curious if it would work or if I might need to pick up a prof feat... wait and see I guess. I really like that spear idea need to see what i can do with it.

@Aerodin... I need to look into the unbarbarian...if the temp hp stacks with other levels that might be really something to look at...

Here is the relevant text.

"in a rage, a barbarian gains a +2 bonus on melee attack rolls, melee damage rolls, thrown weapon damage rolls, and Will saving throws. In addition, she takes a –2 penalty to Armor Class. She also gains 2 temporary hit points per Hit Die."

The Exchange

I believe there is a new fighter archetype coming out in arcane anthologies. Check that thread for the specifics.

They are ranged weapons, but they must be wielded in two hands. You're correct that they are not in the two-handed category, but there is room for table variation on that.

The distinction seems clear to me, but I don't play PFS so I'll take your word regarding table variation.

It's really clunky. It also means the achetype doesn't qualify for EK.

For me the appeal of EK is getting better BAB on a full caster. I wouldn't be interested going that route with a CoAaA since it already had full BAB. As far as I can see EK just gets you one less caster level.

I am interested in trying it out with Arcane Archer. AA forces you to make terribly severe choices between BAB and caster level. With CoAaA I think I can make an AA who is actually a decent archer at all levels.

I think a two weapon Str-based build using Artful Dodge might also be fun. I like the idea of stacking Weapon Specialization, Power Attack, and Arcane Strike with some spell buffs and maybe VMC Magus.

Artful dodge sounds really nice for going two weapon fighting with a str/int investigator

VMC Magus with anything (Fighter works best because feats) and pick up Arcane Accuracy at 7th level. Get Int to hit (limited, but it makes use of it if you want).

Yeah pfs banned that though

Magus works the best. And it makes sense, considering the smartest people are spellcasters, and spellcasters rule the world of Pathfinder.

Kensai archetype fits quite well, since you'll have free proficiency with a single weapon of your choice (Exotic Weapons are pretty sweet), be able to add Intelligence to your Initiative checks, as well as make use of spells like Bladed Dash (and its Greater counterpart) for extremely powerful engages on your enemies.

I have to agree about the magus. That, combined with elven battle styles would make for a decent combo.

That is a hefty investment in levels to get going though.

Sorta hesitant of the magus though... the burst damage seems nice but I like solid enchants to go at it. Playing a inquisitor as my main and love divine favor. I'll look at it again though

If you can figure out some way around having 1/2 BAB, you're good to go. Unfortunately, Rules As Written, VMC Magus with the Maneuver Mastery Arcana doesn't work, because VMC Magus only gives you effective Magus levels for qualifying for Arcana, not for their effect. VMC Wizard with the Knowledge is Power Arcane Discovery would be helpful, but you have to wait forever for it (15th level, which is well after the end of PFS careers and getting close to the end of AP careers).
