Yeah brutality doesn't need to be measured by gun battles or the amount of guns. Frank clearly brought it.

Never said it wasn’t brutal.

No one needs weapons if you have creativity and a strong stomach....or are just really angry.

Hulk is always angry. ;)

I feel like everyone is arguing against a point that I’m not making.

I finished it earlier this week.

It definitely had the slowest start of any of the netflix series, but also didn't have the mid season lull that so many of those shows fall victim to. Overall I would rank it as far as netflix shows as about their third best, behind DD season 1 and JJ.

As for the future, I think Jigsaw might be left in a coma for awhile. The showrunner has said that if a second season happens, he would like to have Barracuda as the big bad.

Not that I am entirely certain ANY of the shows will get more seasons after Luke Cage and Jessica Jones season 2. I still don't know what exactly Disney pulling out from netflix means for the future of any of these shows, especially if Fiege is eying some of these properties for MCU movies in phase 5.

DD s3 is also supposed to be confirmed.

Jon Bernthal is apparently a close friend of the actor for Shades Alvarez. I was REALLY hoping for a crossover, but oh well.

Thinking about it though, I can see why the punisher isn't working with the defenders. He would probably kill Iron Fist out of annoyance.

Well, and the whole Matt, Jessica, and Luke all have a problem with killing.

Yep. Pretty much that Greenie. Frank Castle isn't what you call, "team friendly."

We're getting new seasons for all 4 shows.

JESSICA JONES and LUKE CAGE have both finished shooting. JESSICA JONES probably lands in February or March 2018 (depending on when Netflix push out ALTERED CARBON), LUKE CAGE likely in August.

DAREDEVIL Season 3 started shooting a couple of weeks back. Will probably air in October or November 2018.

IRON FIST Season 2 starts shooting next week, will air either in December 2018 or February 2019.

THE DEFENDERS and THE PUNISHER have not been renewed yet.

The long-term future of the Marvelflix 'verse is in doubt because of Marvel/Disney's new streaming service launching in late 2019, but we will have more seasons of these shows before then.

(from TheWrap.com) Season 2 of The Punisher premieres on Netflix January 18th, 2019.

And it will be canceled on January 19.

Cape,

We sure about that? I figured they'd wait until February.

I know it won't be until next month that it'll be canceled. But just saying we should expect it.

Cape,

I expected it the moment they cancelled Luke Cage. Followed by Daredevil.

Daredevil was my "Whelp, all of these are getting cancelled" moment.

I mean Iron Fist was the least loved, so not a surprise. And I know people have had various issues with both seasons of Luke Cage. So surprising but maybe understandable. Daredevil? That was at one point one of netflix' flagship shows and the flagship for all of the Netflix MCU.

The netflix MCU shutting down might be a blessing in disguise. I could see a lot of mediocre seasons in the future. Best to end before that happens.

New The Punisher season 2 trailer

And as we know this series is doomed at Netflix, could we maybe enjoy the anticipation and the actual new episodes when it premieres, instead of only nattering on repetitively about how it's canceled? Thanks.

All I know is Billy Russo isn't quite Jigsaw...but he's clearly going to be Frank's foil for at least part of the season.

Sovereign Court

Half way through and im liking it better than season 1 by a good margin.

Indeed. Doesn't seem nearly as bloated, in spite of the number of episodes. The first one dragged until he started hitting people but then it was fun.

season two episode one. Leave it to frank to have the most depressing sex scene ever.

You also can't accuse ol frank of being sexist. he'll beat you left and right no matter what gender you are.

Oh yeah. I noticed they slipped in female henchmen for a lot of the other shows but this is the most outright brutal.

I couldn't help but laugh when he smashed someone's head into a sink, yet again disturbing others near me.

Have you seen this fanart on what Jigsaw would look like?

Sovereign Court

I was still hoping for a Tony Curran return as the shotgun to the face guy from the comics.

episode 2: Could of went without seeing franks pale backside. Also terminal stupidity is my new favorite phrase.

That could have easily put the bullet wound on his body. I think that was for fun.

Scarab Sages

I enjoyed the second season. Although I did think it had it's faults....

Spoiler:
I loved the increased amount of Frank being Punisher. Bernthal did a great job.

The actor playing Billy Russo/Jigsaw was great. I wish they had scarred him up a bit more, though.

The two story lines would have been better split up. Mashed together like that, I thought they detracted from each other.

For all that you had a $5 million bounty on the heads of Castle and the girl, there was a distinct lack of people popping out of the woodworks to try and claim it. You'd think they feds and NYPD would have gotten wind of the bounty and been more involved.

I really hope Disney can eventually continue the show (or perhaps a movie) with Jon Bernthal.

Sovereign Court

@aberzombie:
I agree that Bernthal is awesome as the Punisher.

I also like Ben Barnes as Russo. I do think the scarring could have been more pronounced. Though, I do like how they focused on his mind being a jig saw puzzle for him, rather than focus on how grotesque they could have made Russo.

I liked the story lines mashed up. It felt more immersive and less "here is the halfway point of the season and one story line conveniently wrapped up for your viewing". I felt it made the series feel like less of a slog that these marvel series often feel like to stretch to 13 episodes. Guess our miles vary here.

A distinct lack of law enforcement is sort necessary to make punisher work, though it doesn't make the experience more immersive. I am glad though they didnt go John Wick with it and have every homeless person in the city whipping out uzis to take on the Punisher.

I am worried that punisher has no place in a family friendly disney streaming service. Not optimistic that it stays on netflix either...

Big thing in the comics(At least with Ennis) is that the police really drag their feet with Punisher since he does their job for them and 'Punisher detail' is tossed off on those as punishment/newbs. Detective Soap is quite often the butt of jokes in this regard

Its really funny to picture thugs and gangsters saying, "why dont the police do something about this guy???"

Nature of the comic beast that characters are more IP than people since we have Joker and Batman still doing their thing instead of rare examples of them aging out and others stepping up. A rather contentious Punisher run was the one done after Ennis finished his MAX run that had Frank actually bleed out and die at the end.

Just finished it. Better than season 1, though I still thought Madani was good for little more than eyecandy. Curtis is still a good guy and I'm glad he survived. That 'psychiatrist' was annoying as hell. Too bad she survived.

the Gym fight was one of the most brutal things I've seen. every time a weight hit bone you could practically feel it.

Just finished!

I liked it, but I felt like I didn't quite get enough brutal violence actually.

I wanted something like Daredevil vs. Thirty Bikers.

Still, loved it, and I'm sad that we won't be seeing more.

With regards to Punisher eventually finding his way to Disney streaming, I always figured they'd be taking the mature stuff like that and throwing it on Hulu (since they'll reportedly have controlling interest), and leave Disney+ for their more kid-friendly stuff.

Definitely one of the better fight sequences. I'd put it right up there with the prison cellblock fight from Daredevil Season 2.

Finished it. I wanted more out of the ending. Especially since this is probably the last of it we are getting. Also I feel like his face wasn't messed up enough all things considered. (things considered being having your face drug across broken glass.)

It actually reminded me that Kilgrave also had a surgery sans drugs. He managed to stay awake though.

I still rewatch that one now and then. I can't really think of anything in Iron Fist with a similar fight scene in terms of engagement.

The fight between Steel Serpent and Danny was pretty brutal, but not sure it's the same level of...danger fight you'd see in other Marvel Netflix shows.

Now that I think about it the fight scene with the Drunken Boxer was fun to watch.

Liberty's Edge

Finished season 2, I thought it was really good. But I do have a question.

Spoiler:
If Russo's shrink was so scared of heights being close to windows high up,
why did'nt she find a place on the first floor?

Exposure therapy maybe?

Sovereign Court

I'm going to miss Jon as Frank.

I finished this a week or two ago...I actually thought this was a huge step down from the first season, largely because the parallel story lines to me didn't mesh well.
