[PFS] 8th level cleric, sort of a strange situation.

Advice

Hey all! I am in a sort of a strange situation. I don't play pathfinder very regularly, but when I do, it's in extremely intense, condensed timeframe. I go to a convention yearly where I play 9-10 sessions in a four day span, then might go most of the year before playing again. So... I have an 7th level dwarven cleric (transitioning to 8th) who doesn't really know what to buy. I keep intending to scour the books and crunch the numbers but it never really happens. So I am looking for help. I usually play as a support/back-up tank.

Stats:
str 14, dex 10, con 12, int 12, wis 18, cha 12 (stats are after any modifications)

I have approx 24,000 in gold and 38 fame.

I own:
+2 plate mail and normal shield
+2 ring of protection
+2 headband of inspired wisdom
ring of featherfall
pearl of power (1st level)
+1 cold iron warhammer
masterwork alchemical silver warhammer
wand of endure elements
rod of reach (lesser)

2 antiplague potions
2 anti-toxin potions
5 vials of alchemical fire
5 vials of holy water
pathfinder kit
dungeoneering kit

Yes, I know it's a mess. :)

I am willing to sell stuff that I don't need, (pearl of power comes to mind).

Any help would be greatly appreciated, the more specific the better.

Ugh Yeah. Thats a well rounded character, in a system that rewards specialization. What deity are they a cleric of?

LOL Nethys. I loved the (hammer of thor visual) magic and protection domains. again I know not optimized...

Well, for tanking:

2000gp Amulet of natural armor. +1 nat armor enhance
5000gp Jingsana(sp) of the fortunate soldier. +1 luck bonus to AC, ignore one crit / sneak attack per day
4000gp Enchant shield to +2

That is +4 AC for 11,000 which leaves you with room to buy more.

Oh, also Spellsight Bracers. If you follow netheys they let you spontaneously convert spells to mage hand. Also acts as a slotless silent lesser metamagic rod once per day.

More wisdom.. More spells, more save or dies. I think you've passed the level where 1d8+4 damage is a meaningful contribution to a fight.

Its also incredibly hard to tank in PFS. PFS is usually crawling with melee, and it takes some really weird builds to keep melee out of harms way when they keep throwing themselves into it. Standing next to them in heavy armor is kind of pointless if you can' whack the antagonist hard enough to make them think they NEED to take you out.

Getting a con belt and then using shield other n your allies is risky , but that and channels healing both of you makes you REALLY hard to kill.

Armor guide

You can also get a hat of disguise and make yourself look like a squishy wizard. Stand in the back, cast spells, they come in for you and CLANK

Another lower level character isn't out of the question either.

Liberty's Edge

How about getting some expendable items? You could easily afford a Wand of Lesser Restoration, or any number of scrolls.

What scrolls do you think would give me the best bang for the buck?

Thanks for all the help so far.

What "save or die" spells do you recommend?

Besides CRB, what books do you currently have?
Personally I would go after things that grant more of the 'hammer of thor' visual since that seems to be what intrigues you. Shocking or thundering (or eventually shocking and thundering). Wings of flying (that look like a hammer twirling?), the goats wondrous figurine, giant bane, magic tankards, etc..

I have a spell storing hammer, which I keep barkskin in. It turns my iterative attack from a likely miss into a buff spell (for the low cost of 1d8+2).

I have players, APG, ultimate combat, ultimate magic, ultimate equipment.

Holy smite is pretty nasty, even with a little collateral damage to the party.

Blessing of ferver is haste for clerics, and will let your party cleave through stuff like butter.

Low level, but murderous command takes the enemy out of the fight for a round and puts the hurt on someone else.

Unless my math is bad, I'm sorry to say that your stat spread is incorrect.

Assumptions - Dwarf +2 CON/WIS -2 CHA, +2 Wis headband (neither stat bump from lvl 4 or 8 included)
14 STR = 5pts
10 DEX = 0
12 CON = 0 (2 racial)
12 INT = 2
18 WIS = 5 pts (2 racial, 2 headband)
12 CHA = 5 pts (-2 racial)

Is a 17 pt. buy, not 20. So you'll have some points to spend (and yes you do have to spend the full 20), If however the 18 doesn't include the headband - well you're at 22 - another issue that would need to be corrected. (There is a method you're buy is correct if you used your stat bump in either STR or CHA and your headband isn't included). If it isn't being 17 - I'd suggest bumping up your DEX for the bump to Init, Reflex, and AC.

Ring of protection is semi-pointless for a cleric. Shield of Faith will give you more AC for a first level spell slot. If you're worried about the duration (which you don't really need to be) Circle of Protection vs evil would work too.

You're at the point in a career where you should be casting spells more often than hitting thing. More wisdom is never bad. Cloak of Resistance. Pearls of Power. All items that can be your friend.

I don't know if you forgot to list it or not, but like Joe said above me, a cloak of resistance +1 is a steal for 1.000.

I have a 9th level Cleric in PFS.

Some things I've found useful:
Carry around a Handy Haversack with a "scroll library".
Having scrolls of most of the utility spells that you might need is really useful.
Get scrolls of all "remove X" spells (remove disease, remove curse, break enchantment, etc.)
Scrolls of spells like Daylight, Invisibility Purge, Death Ward, Resist Energy, Wind Wall, Endure Elements can be very useful.
Scrolls of Restoration (with 100gp component cost)
Scrolls of Lesser Restoration (I carry 10, usually don't need that many)

That way, you can whip out the solution to whatever problem/condition comes up. It's relatively cheap and can save the day.

Get one POTION of Remove Blindness. You don't want to have to learn that lesson the hard way.

If you don't want to spend tons of gp to gear up for combat, stick with what you have and put Menacing on your Warhammer. That way, you can stand in melee and benefit your allies just by standing there.

Spellguard Bracers are a great buy.
Feather Step Slippers or Slippers of Spider Climbing are useful and cheap too.

Silver Crusade

My suggestions:
Cloak of Resistance +3
upgrade Wisdom Headband to +4

Seconded. I always get scrolls of spells that don't have level-dependent effect (outside of duration, that is): Daylight, Endure Elements, Glitterdust, Gust of Wind, Bull's Strength, Blessing of Fervor, Breath of Life, etc. Spells that improve by level like Shield of Faith, Magic Vestment, Communal Resist Energy, Barkskin, and so on I cast myself.

And one or two backup scrolls of your "daily" spells isn't a bad idea if you can afford it.

Thanks for all your help!

Keep in mind that if you cannot see, you cannot read.

daylight is often better as an oil than a scroll for that purpose.

Grand Lodge

I personally Like a Lesser rod of Extend. It is really nice investment for 3,000gp. If you would have bought it sooner you could have saved the gold on the ring of Protection. Another Choice is a Lesser rod of Echoing.

Pick up a cloak of Resistance +1 or +2

Alchemist Fires do very little now so a Swarm's Bane Clasp or a Golem's Bane Amulet. Since season 6 Adamantine weapons have become the "thing" so people can skip the Golem's Bane Amulet and grab swarm bane. Most people grab a MW cold Iron weapon that covers other DR types (in your case...P/S weapon). Grabbing a Oil of Bless you can then Bypass all DR that pops up.

A belt of a Main combat stat would be also a good investment. Then you can be casting your secondary stat buff. Example: Belt of Str +2 you can be casting Bear's Endurance with a lesser extend rod. You just profited.

Same with a Potion of Remove Blindness. If you are blind...you can't read the scroll.
