Additional shipping options?

If I recall correctly, Paizo typically ships via either UPS or the USPS. Any chance we can get some additional options? I've noticed a distinct lack of efficiency from these two shippers, more often than not lately. My latest package apparently arrived in Houston 6 days ago, and I haven't seen it, nor an update in the tracking information, since.

Not sure if anyone else is having issues like this, but it's happened to me with increasing frequency over the last year or two.

Thanks for your feedback. I'll pass it along. We do evaluate other service options periodically, but USPS and UPS are the best we can provide at this time.

It looks like most of your orders ship standard post. Because Standard Postal Delivery involves a transfer between UPS Mail Innovations and the US Postal Service, we have found that occasionally the parcel will miss a scan along the way and no information will be updated. Even though data is not being updated, we find that the parcel is almost always still on its way. We do not consider these parcels missing until they has exceeded their delivery estimate. (Keeping in mind that it may be better to give things a bit longer around/after the holidays, as some post offices may still be working through higher than normal volumes).

There are other USPS options on our site that would not involve going through Mail Innovations, such as USPS First Class and USPS Priority, but those option are more expensive.

Thanks for the reply. Typically, I ship standard option because I've got enough stuff to keep me occupied I don't care how slow my shipment is. I was kind of hoping to get this shipment on time, however, for various reasons. And this isn't the first time something like this has happened. I doesn't really surprise me, since we're dealing with UPS/USPS, but it can be annoying.

Since Standard Postal Shipping is an estimated 4-8 business days, and it's now been about 10 days, does this mean it's officially missing? If so, what now?

Order #3808863. Weird thing is, I checked the tracking status a little while ago, and it had two sets of tracking information. The first set is the original that started on 28 December and tracked through 3 January before stopping at the North Houston Post Offfice. The newest tracking information shows he package starting out yesterday in Washington state and being transferred to th destination MI facility starting today.

I'm almost wondering if the morons at the post office didn't accidently send it back to where it came from, and are now trying to correct their own idiocy.

Just as an update:

Contacted UPS. That was, as expected, useless. They have no explanation and could only suggest I keep tracking the package and wait until the new delivery date.

I emailed the USPS PDFs of both tracking statuses. I doubt I'll get anything more coherent from them than I did from the UPS jacknuts.

I understand that Standard Delivery is cheap and slow, but that doesn't mean it has to be incompetent.

Just an update on Order #3808863: Nothing. It seems to have disappeared. The original tracking information hasn't been updated since 3 January. The rebooted tracking information hasn't been updated since 12 January.

And...it's starting to look like a repeat with my AP subscription, order #3818383. I got the shipment notification on Tuesday (again 12 Jan), and when I try to track it says there's no tracking information available. It also says that if the information remains unavailable after 3 days then I should contact the shipper.

I'm almost afraid to see what's going to happen to the minis I ordered. They'll probably end up being delivered back to y'all.

Can y'all just hire Amazon to deliver your stuff? Those guys are awesome.

I'm sorry that there's been so much confusion with this order. I've taken a look into both #3808863 and #3818383. Because the latter was sent out more recently, I wouldn't worry about it too much just yet. Mail Innovations tends to have a bit of a lag once they transfer the parcel to a Post Office, but whenever we see this, the shipment usually arrives within a couple days afterwards. Give that one more time, and if it still hasn't shown up next week, let us know.

For the former order, #3818383, that definitely should have reached you by now. I can't see anything else on the tracking information, and we have not yet received the return from the Postal Service, but I can set up a replacement to be sent out with your next round of subscriptions. You should see the books pending in your sidecart in just a moment.

Again, sorry for the confusion, but hopefully the replacements will reach you just fine. Please don't hesitate to let us know if there's anything else we can help out with in the meantime.

Sadly, I don't have high hopes. The stupid seems to be extra strong with the Post Office.

Quick clarification: 3818383 is the most recent January order and the day you got the email with the tracking number and your PDFs were granted was the day that the label was printed and not necessarily when the package left the building. When we do monthly subscriptions, we batch print labels of similar orders, slap the labels on packages assembly style and dump them into bins for Mail Innovations to pick up. That can take a few days in addition to the time it takes MI to sort and scan packages for tracking. You'll note that the shipping confirmation from the 12th says: A package containing 2 items from Paizo Order #3818383 is expected to ship from the Paizo warehouse by Friday, January 22 via Standard Postal Delivery, estimated 4 to 8 business days in transit. Meaning, the latest that Mail Innovations should have it is by Friday January 22nd (though we expect to be wrapped up well before then).

Holy Updates, Katman! It's like you invoked some head-out-of-ass from the Post Office. You musta scairt 'em! Some new tracking updates finally appeared. If the package shows up, I'll shoot y'all an email or something, that way you can cancel any replacement.
