Thanks for the kind words. That said... you do realize "take a vacation" is also a way to say "delay the products you're working on even more" yeah? ;-P
Yea. I suppose so. But I'd rather there be a delay than to hear about some Scanners type thing on the news.

I've been looking forward to this AP since it was announced. While I am frustrated that the PG is not out by the street date of the first AP issue, I am very relieved to see Rob taking his time and making sure to put out a great product.
Thank you, Mr. Rob!
This AP has the possibility of being one of the best but also one of the worst Paizo has put out. Please, please, please make it good!

It would be released, but near impossible to download. ;) the sudden rush to download it would also probably make things worse.

Blizzard has a good attitude when it comes to release dates: It's done when it's done. Avoiding precise times (whenever possible) reduces stress level on both sides. I had to learn the hard way they are right...
There's a reason there's the joke about blizzard having the phrase soon trade marked. Also the joke about how their soon could mean in an hour or 6 years.

Let's pass the time in a more entertaining way: what kind of character concepts are you hoping to try out?
I was thinking of a purely mercenary Rahadoumi, probably a fighter or rogue of some sort, whose in it for self-advancement but is leery of becoming truly bound to Asmodeus or any otherworldly powers.
A wizard with a similar attitude (devils serve ME, not the other way around) could also be interesting.
I'm hoping there's some kind of campaign trait for being Chelaxian nobility, as well, as the idea of a 3rd/4th son (or eldest daughter) heading out to the Chelaxian hinterlands to make a name and place for himself is pretty appealing.

Keneticist (fire) that is actually a channeler of Hellfire...
DM has already OK'd an infusion that allows damage from my fire based effects to be 1/2 fire, 1/2 unholy.
I'm currently looking at creating a wild talent that functions as "Death Knell Aura" as her hellfire is meant to be fueled by souls (so "gather power" is a ghostly image of screaming souls being sucked into her).
I'm also looking for a precedent for souls being obliterated (not subject to reincarnation etc) as that seems particularly evil (in a fluff sort of way)

This is actually a really cool concept, though the idea of hellfire being fueled by souls does give it a WoW Warlock feel. As for obliterating a soul, that would need to be a high level ability.

Ditto...have my character history all but completed. Just need the guide book so I can finish him.

I'm just hoping we don't face too many Devils who would be immune to both the fire and unholy damage....

That's very much a daemon thing.
Check out Book of the Damned Volume III, or just extrapolate from the stats daemons have in the bestiaries.

Wouldn't that piss off not just the good guys, but also all the neutral death folks like the paycopomps and the inevitables? I'm not saying that getting on Phasmas bad side would have consequences, but she might take an Interest in someone doing that. And then there's the people that might use you to get out of Hell Compacts (oblivion being preferable to Asmodeus resort and spa); so even Team Evil might want a word somewhere along the way.
It's a neat concept though. I'm curious how it turns out.Waruko |
I'm not sure if I really would be into this AP. Evil just isn't my bag, be it in games or not. To put it like this I felt genuinely horrible playing Knights of the Old Republic during a full Dark Side run. (Poor Mission.) Great story though. If I do play I think it will be a Lawful character which is EXTREMELY rare for me. A pragmatic individual that takes part in things not because they likes it but because the alternative would bring about utter chaos and devastation and do more long term harm than good. Order and control are there to protect people due to them being unable and unwilling to handle themselves properly.
Basically they are the kinda of person that would strip you of all your personal freedoms because, "It's for your own good." They would also try to act as a buffer to try and not make things any worse then they already are. That would go for the party as well as any shenanigans Thrune's side tried to pull. Slaughter a rebelling village to the last man, woman, and child? That's a pointless waste of lives. Send them to a work camp where they will be safely keep under watch and productive to society as a whole. But if they thought for a second dropping some kinda of magic plague bomb (that would make Hiroshima look like an act of mercy by comparison) would save one more life than it would take by ending the fighting early, they'd do it in a heartbeat and not regret it. So maybe LN, maybe LE. Not really sure.
As far as class, not sure yet. Something martial I think would fit the image in my head best.

Hello everyone. Chris posted this in the Hell's Vengeance: The Hellfire Compact discussion thread:
Update: I know it's getting later in the day, but I wanted to drop in to confirm that for an absolute certainty I am getting this guide posted tonight before I leave.

If I were playing in this (I'm running it), I would want to do something either restricted to evil or something I feel is more at home with evil parties. An Anti Paladin (first choice), Slayer, Necromancer, Mesmerist, stuff like that.
Also Diego, thanks for the update.
The party I'm running... we have a Slayer (Sczarni Executioner), an Insinuator Anti-Paladin, an Oracle of the Dark Tapestry and a Hunter... it was a ton of fun. Though the very first action of the very first round of the very first combat was a crit on the hunter that very nearly one shot him.
It was pretty hilarious, to be honest.

I thought that was for Duke Nukem Forever.
