The DragonLance Chronicles in Golarion

I am having a fit of nostalgia lately and want to try my hand at possibly running the DragonLance Chronicles modules in Golarion someday. I know it may be a stretch, but I figured it might be worth attempting. The first thing I had to do was to address some setting-related issues, such as the disappearance of the gods. Instead discovering that the gods withdrew from the world until mortals got their acts together and learned some humility, I thought maybe the campaign could be about the return/rebirth/resurrection of Aroden. I figure some big, bad, godlike enemy of Aroden's from before his death could be on the move gathering armies of dragons and savage species and basically making a play for world dominance. I don't know a whole lot about Big A, so I thought I would ask those of you out there with more ranks in Knowledge (Golarion Lore) than I to suggest some big bads that could fit the bill, as well as other stuff I would need to change to give this a go. Where could I place Solace? Should I transplant the whole town or exchange it for one that has already been established? Any other bits of advice are welcome.

As far as main enemy for Aroden, Tar Baphon could be a candidate.

I am not sure what aspects you are wanting to bring to Golarion from Dragonlance. Solace is kinda like Sandpoint in a lot of ways, both the iconic start of the adventure type place.

I'm curious if there's a specific reason for running the series on Golarion instead of on Krynn.

It seems to me that it would be easier to create Krynn with Pathfinder rules than it would be to retcon Golarion to fit the Dragonlance stories. There's already a map for Krynn, so you wouldn't have to shoe-horn the locations into the Golarion world. There's already a Krynn mythology, so you wouldn't have to figure out how to handle the dozens of divinities and religions that exist on Golarion.

The main reason to port it to Golarion is that most everyone I would run it for has read the DragonLance Chronicles and is too familiar with the books to get much enjoyment out of playing the adventures as is. I also enjoy tweaking modules to fit a setting, and being able to use the encounters pretty much as written.

Ok, I'm totally cool with that. I only brought it up because of the relative amount of work involved.

Edit:

I had written up a long, long analysis before coming up to the following conclusion.

It'll probably be easier to modify the campaign to fit the world than to modify the world to fit the campaign.

That is essentially what I want to do. For example: should I find a suitable location to place Solace, or use an established town like Sandpoint? I am fine with introducing Draconians to the world, but who created them? What evil deity or entity is trying to wage war on the Inner Sea region? It will take some time, bit will serve to scratch my DragonLance itch while I learn more about Golarion lore.

Dahak would be the obvious choice for anything to do with evil dragons. He has nothing to do with Aroden, but he could say "Power vacuum!" and decide to fill it. There's nothing to say that he couldn't try and unite some of Aroden's old enemies to back his dragons. Flavourwise, that could reflect the divisiveness of the Dragonarmies. Tar-Barphon (if freed) and, say, Geb (or more accurately Arazni) are extremely similar, but they each want to be top dog. Dahak wouldn't have to limit himself to Aroden's enemies either. Maybe he could offer immortality and power to Razmir, or help Molthune with their Nirmathi problem.

I agree that Dahak would be a logical choice to replace Takhisis, even though Takhisis is male.

While Takhisis has the a masculine Dark Warrior aspect, Takhisis is generally a goddess.

My bad, totally. I meant to write that she was female, but brain farted. I meant to write "eve though Dahak is male."

(Though, now I'm second guessing myself. Is Dahak male?)

She is known as Her Dark Majesty.
