Ancient Thassilon and paladins

Rise of the Runelords

Hello, All!

I've got a curious question that bothers me for some time already.
Were there (in ancient Thassilon) good gods and if they were, were there paladins active during that time?

What would be life of paladin in such evil empire?

According to the Pathfinder wiki, Desna was worshipped already back then. As she is chaotic good, she probably won´t sponsor classical LG paladins. I guess if paladins existed at all back then, their life would be short and in constant danger of being discovered and destroyed.

Shelyn and Abadar were gods of Azlant, and thus probably had very heavily persecuted followings in Thassilon after Xin's overthrow.

I'm guessing that one of the Azlanti deities that died trying to stop the Starstone was LG, and was the primary paladin patron for the region at that time.

Anyways, I imagine life as a paladin in Thassilon would be like life as a paladin in Geb - your very existence is a crime punishable by death, and so you're going to have a bad time.

Though I imagine that a paladin in Thassilon would probably think of the Runelords as Xin's illegitimate usurpers, and would be working towards trying to get a ruler who isn't a complete psychopath on the throne or its equivalent.
