"Meet my friend," Faith says, introducing a serpentfolk to Eroeme as directly as possible. It is quite direct as the ground below is colored red from the blood that flows from the still standing temple guard.

Sasha tumbles past the uncoiling creature, slashing with her adamantine biting blade.

Juliver's advice isn't helpful, as it would require the combatants to not take acid damage, but other than that the serpentine creature is just a brawler/

Zaine takes careful aim and fires a single round at the monster. The carefully aimed shot is just barely deflected by heavy scales, taking a massive line of flesh from along the creatures ribs and leg. (Full damage done, just not a kill shot.)

The sole remaining guard on the right darts forward, grabbing at Aine's arm. The quick violent movement, which should have worked to drag the archer from her aerial perch fails due to magic.

The two temple guards move up to flank Faith each getting in a nasty blow when his guard is just a little distracted. (Faith take 53 damage.)

The thessalhydra opens the large reptilian head, letting loose a wash of acid that coats Tulip and Zaine. (4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 6, 4) = 13 acid damage, Ref DC 30 for half)

Pakshee curses at the undamaged temple guard attacking Faith, but there is no obvious effect. (The yellow marked guard will take 50% of any damage he deals for the next 5 rounds.)

Tulip gets in close, the quicker than expected monster snapping at the huge dinosaur, a blow that hits despite an almost perfect control by Zaine. (Tulip takes 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 2) + 6 = 10 damage plus 2d6 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8 acid) Despite the blow, Tulip bites massively into the monster.

Guess I should have remembered to mention: Everyone (in this case Faith) has a +3 to hit and damage Favored Enemy bonus against Monstrous Humanoids from the Enemy Insight previously cast under Group Spells. This will be up (unless dispelled) for just under 30 minutes.

"Yeah, good try Snakes. Unfortunately for you, I'm using protection." Áine smirks, her expression turning impassive for just a split second before unleashing a final barrage of winged death on the scaly priest. "Gotta love magick." she comments dryly.

Both of Sasha's blade cut and slash into the scaly skin. Blood flies and pain distracts the monster. (Thyssalhydra's AC is lowered by 3 points until the end of Sasha's next turn.)

"Faith!" Juliver shouts, "Maybe if you move a bit then you won't have to worry about both of them while you stab?" (Faith has a +4 competence bonus to hit on his next turn.)

However, the monster's reduced defenses stop mattering as Zaine fires again, a shot to the brain that drops the monster. Then Zaine swiftly reloads afterwards.

The guards flanking Faith both attack. Clearly feeling the pain from Eroeme's wounds, the first snake only gets in a single hit (Faith takes 11 damage) but the other serpent gets in a number of good strikes and bites. The poison burns as it is injected. (Faith takes 47 damage (and the attacker takes 23 damage) and Fort DC 21 or be poisoned (1d2 ⇒ 2 Str damage))

Frustrated by his inability to grab the archer, the temple guard flails effectively against the carpet rider. (Aine takes 31 damage.)

Pakshee give the evil eye to both of the serpents, sadly it does not work.

The smaller sets of door on the 'watchtowers' where the temple guards stood all lead into moderately sized guardrooms furnished simply with weapon racks, barrels of arrows and very little else.

The two large double doors are adamantine doors beneath a snake's head archway engraved with a scaled motif and bearing carvings of robed serpentfolk offering gifts and sacrifices to a giant serpentfolk with an elongated tail. Serpentine locks rn along the door's outer edges where they join with the cavern stone.

As you approach either of the paired doors, one of the serpent's maws opens and speaks in Aklo, "To the hallowed halls of Ydersius, you come. Speak now the liturgy for solace in the snake-god’s embrace and you may enter unbitten and unscathed."

The doors open into a entrance courtyard and several arrow-slits pierce the walls of this irregularly shaped courtyard. A green stone statue of a huge two headed serpent stands at the center of the room, staring down at the main gate from a height of nearly thirty feet. Adamantine doors mark the room's exits.

The guards in the room look to the arrow slits, bodies tensing as they realize their normal, immense, back up is not there - instead out in the city dealing with invading armies.

In regards to spells: Between this fight and the previous, spells measured in rounds/lvl would be finished or almost. Anything longer would still be active.

Aine's barrage of arrows proves deadly as one of the tough temple guards falls on the last, speedily shot, incredibly well placed arrow.

Zaine shoots a another one of the guards. The single gunshot blasts through armor and scale, but the tough serpentfolk doesn't make a sound.

Sasha runs into the room, keeping to the edges to avoid any quick glancing blows.

The green stone two-headed serpent statue moves, one of the heads coming down, opening to wash the group with a cloud of gray sticky smoke. (Everyone please make a Fort DC 25 or be turned to STONE! This will take effect at the start of round 2.)

Tulip charges the nearest guard, chomping him between her jaws.

Pakshee's brown skin turns grey for just a moment before the tattoos on her shoulder flare into light and her form remains flesh, if a little greyer.

"Blessing of Destruction," Faith mutters to Áine, and heads toward the snakes.

The companion snakes dart forward, not truly dangerous but distracting - especially with the deadly venom in their fangs. (Attacks vs Faith, Sasha and Tulip have a +2 to hit from the distraction.)

While the jaw chomped guard doesn't achieve much, the uninjured guard manages to land some blows on Sasha.

Juliver continues the advice that she started prior to the door being opened. Seeing Tulip has a temple guard well in jaw, she comments, "If I remember the discussions, the green serpentstone is as hardy as adamantine, so if you have any daggers that are adamantine, that would be beneficial, Faith!" (Faith also gets an additional +4 to hit.)

"Ow," Zaine says thoughtfully, putting yet another musket ball into the construct. Which proves, finally, to be the tipping point in terms of the sheer amount of violence applied to stone.

Pakshee moves closer once the stone is broken on the ground, healing Faith, Tulip, Zaine, Sasha and Aine when she comes closer.

The areas around the entrance courtyard prove to be guardroom, with serpentfolk style chairs and tables. In addition to the two large impressive doors that exit the courtyard (heading east and west respectively) each of the 'guardrooms' has a small set of doors... similar to the small doors that led into guardrooms in the exterior of the temple.

Unsurprising in a place where the inhabitants communicate telepathically, there are no sounds that break through the solidity of the walls.

"Too bad I can't phase through walls." Áine mutters more to herself than the group at large, "Shall we go straight to the large double doors? ...or do you guys want to check out all the small ones first?" She does take the time to try to spot any potential traps at whatever doors she approaches.

"I could go either way. Normally, I'd say it's dumb to leave anything behind us, but in this situation it seems like time is of the essence. If we keep heading for our final fight, we end this thing once and for all. Then maybe we come back and mop up."

Faith looks briefly indecisive, then shrugs. "I am in agreement with Zaine," he says. "We will have to be cautious of attacks from the rear."


The double doors to the west open into a wide, rounded hallway. Passing by a few small doors and a small feeder hallway, the large hallway turns abruptly and leads to another set of metal, carved double doors. There is a slight pressure on the those doors as you open them, a notable break of seal as the doors open, only to reveal another set of double doors, like the pair form a pressure lock.

The inner doors do not budge until the outer doors are closed, but the time to figure that out allows your senses to reach out. You can't quite hear the sound, but a subaudible hiss reverberates through your bones and your brain, making your skin itch and fight against going forward.

Your group has enough of a Sense Motive that you sense a mini-boss fight in the upcoming room. You can buff if you'd like, then roll initiative when you open the second set of doors.

Any min/lvl spells cast before the initial attack the temple guards fight will last through this fight and be done. Any round/lvl spells from either previous fight are down. Hour/lvl spells are still up.

What Blessings do people want? It only lasts for a minute, but Destructive Attacks is +8 on damage rolls. Bull's Strength (on Tulip) and Shield of Faith (on Faith) will still be up through this fight (min/level). Faith will put up Sacred Armor again just before going through the doors.

I don't know if Destructive Attacks stacks with Vital Strike/Dead shot. If it does, I'll act as a multiplier in the same way as it would with actual multiple shots.

The way it works is that every other round, the Blessing basically becomes +32, but on the alternating rounds it's +8. Faith, your call here.

Destructive Attacks as a swift action costs the same as two cast at regular action speed, so let's do it unless the GM says it doesn't stack
