Officer Will Simpson (From Jessica Jones)

Conversions

Will Simpson, as some folks have no doubt noticed, is the love child of U.S. Agent and Nuke, who are both men who tried and failed to follow in Captain America's footsteps. Compelling in their own way, these fractured characters can make ideal choices for those looking for Andoren's dark side.

My Will Simpson build is here, so enjoy!

I honestly think starting Will off with two levels of 'Trophy Hunter' & 'Trapper' Ranger can add a lot to this build while also help establish his career as a spec-ops soldier.

Half your recommended feats are Gunslinger feats. Perhaps a level dip into Gunslinger (Wyrm Sniper) might not hurt?

I feel that his time with special operations is better represented with a trait, rather than another level dip. One-to-two levels of ranger isn't going to hurt your BAB, but it will slow your gain on the Mutagen, and allow you fewer Discoveries regarding it. I feel that while Will is interesting, most of his interesting characteristics (both good and bad) are derived from those three, color-coded pill bottles.

Stealthy fighters are easy enough to make, with the proper traits, feats, and gear investment. There's no reason to toss another class onto the pile, and if not for the ridiculous benefits of the Brawler's 1st level, I'd have skipped that, too.

The dip into gunslinger comes with many of the negatives that the above dip into ranger would come with, regarding the progression of the Mutagen Warrior levels. If you're only taking 1 level, I see no reason to take Wyrm Sniper, as Will doesn't seem to have any special knowledge of the arcane or super scientific.

The main reason I don't suggest a dip into gunslinger, though folks are more than welcome to, is that none of what Will does reflects the grit mechanic. He doesn't have the derring-do of a musketeer, but rather the mechanical efficiency of a trained warrior. Guns are his preferred weapon, but someone who wants to use a crossbow instead of firearms would get a lot of the same results. It's because a gun is his weapon of choice given the setting of the character that I included feats which give you a deed, and let you make and repair your own weapons. More often than not, I expect this build will act much like Will in the series; shoot one or two times, and then slam your fists into it until it goes down, or you go down.

Grit isn't necessarily all flash and bang. Actually, 1 level in the Siege Gunner archetype would give you INT-based grit that is flavored much closer to what you're looking for. You can ignore the rest of the class features- think of the character as a cohesive whole, not just as a bunch of parts.
