The 11th level barbarian cannot make it. Best Planar Ally?

Howdy!

Just found out the 11th level barbarian cannot make it tomorrow. If needed, what would be the best Planar Ally my NG hill dwarf cleric 11 of Life dedicated to Desna can call?

I'm also on "friendly" terms with a balor-succubus. It's for RotRL, converted to 5E, book/part 6.

Thanks!

Which ones do you know by name? If none, you won't have to worry about this question, because you can't choose the type of creature anyway. The entity/DM you call upon chooses who to send to your aid.

Aside from that balor-succubus (is that a half-balor half-succubus?) which I will hazard to guess is not loyal to Desna you would have to know a creature by name to choose a specific one and even then the DM can still choose to send someone else.

That makes it easy.

I'm sure we have the name of the balor//succubus (gestalty monstrous combination, possibly proto-demon princess) written down somewhere.

But she seems kind of uber.

I'm just looking for CR appropriate suggestions to make to my DM to make things easier for everyone.

For an 11th level party of 6 (5 without the barbarian), what would be an appropriate creature? Desna probably has relations with celestials and fey because of her butterflyness, and we've also done some dirty work with some demons.

Obviously, I don't prefer a demon because they're kind of naughty, but there seem to be very few celestials and fey in the MM.

I just looked through the monster manual and found exactly 6 celestials: Unicorns, Pegasi, Couatl and 3 different Angels.

The closest in power level to a single 11th level character would either be the Deva (which at CR 10 would be significantly stronger than a level 11 character) and the Unicorn (which at CR 5 is probably somewhat weaker)

I'm just saying this based on the presumption that CR X means a fair but not difficult challenge for 4-5 Level X characters.

Yeah, WotC needs to publish MM2!

The DM gave me a short list of elementals, genies, and celestials to roll on. I rolled up a couatl. CR 4, but AC 19, 97 hp, and stats 16 20 17 18 20 18. So really boss. Some really good utility, buffing, and healing magic, and a poisonous bite.

I think 5E CR really has no comparison with PC level. You can't just use the CR. You really need to look at the details of the creatures.

Of course, the party might not think we need to summon an ally. We'll see what the consensus is.

We did not need or use the couatl.
