Psst, Mike:

If you want to make this a tad easier on yourself, you might want an numbered alphabetical list; then just roll a single die with an arbitrary number based on your list size. Like choosing the (arbitrary) number 23, like so:

Pick-a-person! D23!: 1d23 ⇒ 21

Tadah! (Man I hope that works or I am going to feel stuuuuuuupid. :D)

Anyway, could save you time and effort, and allow you to more easily track winners! Also, if you like instead, something like a d36 to choose a name starting from 1-0 (1-10 on the roll) or a-z (roll-10 = alphabet number). Then select randomly from people with that letter or number as their first part of their name! That's more likely to need re-rolls though, and definitely needs clarifying rolls, so the numbered alphabetical is still among your top choices, I'd say... unless you just want to roll all those d20s! In which case: enjoy! :D
