Fusing two characters

Advice

So I was wondering, if two NPC's or characters would fuse together, what spell or ability will be used? Also how will their stats and class levels be determined?

Lets say a level 7 Paladin and a level 10 Sorcerer both with stats appropriate to their level and class

I think I would half both class levels and create a being with a multi class 3 Paladin and 5 Sorcerer.

What do you think??

Fuse them together with the Amalgam template?

Really, a lot depends on what the resulting creature is. If it's a BRAND NEW creature, it shouldn't automatically have Paladin powers - it would need to commit itself to the path of good. Decide for yourself what would make sense based on the situation.

Firestorm?

Seems to me that you're doing a totally new thing in here. (Maybe this should be in House Rules?) Since this is a totally new thing, what I recommend is looking at the Gestalt option, and making it a Gestalt Paladin 6/Sorcerer 10.

Also, if they fused deliberately, maybe they got some advantage from it, such as dual mind. Maybe it gets to take two Will saves when one is necessary and choose the better. Maybe it gets an extra standard action (which would be a big deal). Depends on what it's for.

Do the two NPCs get along? Do they fight for control of the body? Does it have long philosophical arguments with itself?

I'd suggest using fusion (dsp version, 3.5 version) as a template for how to handle this.

Oh! Oh! I remember this one. The mad doctor puts Giligan's mind into the Professor's body and vice versa. Or was it the Skipper and Maryanne?

Seriously, I'd make it a composite PC with multiple personality disorder. Give him the best of both PCs hit points, STR, DEX and CON, but have everything else depend on who's in charge at the moment.

The main idea is one being taking over another and therefore taking his body/powers and as a side effect the personality of the one performing the fusion will be tainted by the personality of the target.

This would mean it would not be willing but when failing the will save (which would happen since both are my own creation) it will be overpowered. My main issue is that it would have too many levels for myy preference but I see that people haven't experienced much of this.

Though Rednal & Elrik your suggestions seems interesting and I'll be taking a look at them
