A couple of ground rules with this build
-I will not multi class no I down right refuse to do it DMs orders mostly but I don't like multi classing anyways
-Unarmed isn't his main thing he's just trained in it so he can fight without weapons although I do still plan on grappling and taking punishing kick so that I can pin and tie captures down
-he is not a sword and shield fighter he uses 1 handed weapons in 2 hands so that he can switch in between to lay on hands with one hand
So far I'm 6th level and Ive already have improved unarmed strike, improved grapple,
Alertness, battle cry,and weapon focus longsword. I'm mainly going for a buffer/healer type leader paladin I would also like a "wish list" if you will of magic items that would complement him thank you

Not sure if it has to be 1 handed, since you can take a hand off a weapon and put it back on as free actions. Not that I find your choice in weapons a problem. I personally prefer one handed weapons myself. So go ahead.
Anyway- how about the iroran paladin? They are meant to be the 'monkish' archetype, but their support for unarmed is just 'so-so'.
But it still ends up keeping enough of the regular paladin stuff and getting its own stuff that it is fine. A rather interesting departure, actually.
So, here are the main changes to note:
- trades away smite. But it gets a damage boosting mechanic about on par with inquisiotr judgements... and it can be used on good or neutral creatures (yes, you can target golems). It is a 'personal trial', so it is more about challenging yourself to be cool hero guy than the enemies' alignment. You also have a mechanic to ignore DR (yay- ignoring golem DR) by spending ki (yes you get ki). Note- you also lose detect evil... less necessary though since you aren't smiting though
- you can apply charisma to AC when in light or no armor. There is a 1 cha mod/level limit...but that is meaningles after level 3, at best, obviously. Overall, you can get heavy armor like AC while running around in light armor (or mithral medium, if you grab armor expert trait). So that is cool- no loss in speed, good touch AC, and you get a nice flavor.
-your divine bond is with unarmed strikes. Not entirely great if you aren't an unarmed build, but there are oaths that let you mvoe the bonus to armor, if you must. Great for reach builds with polearms though, since you can keep the unarmed strikes to threaten close, adn use divine bond to cheaply keep it enhanced.
-archetype strongly implies that you write your own paladin code (finding your own way to enlightenment)... so maybe you can lie, cheat, and steal for the greater good?
Notable things you keep from the base paladin:
-lay on hands+mercies
-Cha to saves
-spells.
So overall, you keep most of your tankish abilities, and just switch from heavy armor to an equivilant light armor build. The only real peeve is the smite thing, and the switch to something that lacks the weakness of 'gm threw in a neutral boss' is fair enough.

Do you want to be more focused on the unarmed combat or healer/buffer.... I'll help with both.
Grappling helpful feats
Chokehold
Snapping Turtle Style (+1 to AC when fighting one handed or you know grappling) and Snapping Turtle Clutch (Whenever a opponent misses you with a melee attack free grapple)
Rapid Grappler (You need Greater Grapple to get this but three attempts per round to pin is excellent.
Healer/buffer
Extra Lay on Hands
Greater Mercy
Wish List
Bracers of the Merciful Knight
Monk's robes
Pearls of Power

I was about to suggest the variant multiclassing monk rules (basically lose half your feats for class features), but it requires you to go unarmored for the bonuses. Mind you, any medium or heavy armor comes with gauntlets, so you can attack with these instead of with your bare hands.
Edit - sad to hear about the battle cry errata, it was nice having a support option for martials that could help with will saves other than fear.

The Irorite paladin is probably the best bet here, really. If it is not accepted... eh, a merciful weapon helps take people alive.
With the feats already chosen, I can see the PC going for style feats, but... ugh, seriously, this is not going to go well. If it is possible to change feats, going for a power attack would help a lot, as already stated you can hold a big weapon with one hand so you can heal yourself without a problem. The longsword held with both hands has, on average, 1 damage less than a glaive and 2.5 less than a greatsword - at times this can be handy.

Unarmed is really just a typ of gimmick he pnly uses his fists if he has to but couple with the fact that punishing kick will allow me to attack without hands will be good on the feats i already got most of those but i am not going crusaders fist at all situational feat and i pnly capture really bad guys/easy captures or bosses if they are either last or near the end of there minion pool even then only if i can
