Precise Shot needed on Mid-Level Bomber Alchemist?

I'm building my first alchemist, level 8. At a glance, it's pretty much auto hitting most touch ACs. But when you start to factor in range penalties, rapid shot, and shooting into melee it becomes less clear cut.

For a Grenadier with Tanglefoot bombs and Stink Bombs, is Precise Shot worth it into the mid-levels, even when I could be grabbing stuff like Frost Bomb for damage versatility? Or should I just suck it up and take Precise Shot, maybe grabbing Force Bombs at level 9 instead?

She's also got a bow for back up, but not Explosive Missile here.

Precise shot is a must, especially if, as a grenadier, you use the ability to apply a bomb or alchemical weapon to a missile.

Keep in mind that most of the time, you will be shooting into melee AND through at least soft cover. That's a total of -8 to hit. As an alchemist, you can't get Improved Precise Shot to negate the -4 to -8 cover penalties, so you really, really want Precise Shot to negate the -4 for into melee.

Also remember that Precise Bombs doesn't work if you miss the target, so not taking Precise Shot also places your party members in danger.
