Feat question, Combat Patrol

Rules Questions

Hello everyone,

Quick, probably dumb question about Combat Patrol and Lunge. Do they work together?

I believe they do but before I give my full opinion I'll leave my info and if someone could do the math from scratch I'd be a lot more comfortable agrueing with my DM.

Lv10 Fighter
Applicable feats- Combat Patrol, Lunge, Spring Attack.

Edit- forgot to mention the use of a reach weapon.

I would say yes. The feat doesn't say that it doesn't stack with other similar effects, so it should.

OK so does that mean that while I am using Combat Patrol I threaten 25 feet?

10 from reach
10 from Combat Patrol
5 extra from Lunge

They do work together, but they do not actually work together to do something useful in any way I can see (with the possible exception of mythic or certain magic items).

Combat patrol takes a specific full-round action. Lunge only works on your turn.

So yes, you can use both, but all lunge will do is give you a penalty to AC (which lasts the whole round) unless you have some way of attacking during your turn after using your full-round action.

Combat Patrol is a Full-Round Action that increases your threatened area for a turn. Lunge gives you an additional 5' of reach for attacks made on your turn. Since Lunge works on your turn and Combat Patrol works during other people's turns, the answer is no.

Lunge is more useful for offensive defense, rather than the reactive defense of combat patrol.

Basically, it is good for getting great positioning when you attack, so that you preserve your right to normal AoOs. Without it, attacking first makes you lose the advantage of reach.

But again- this only affects when you are making attacks during your turn. Combat Patrol is an entirely different beast.
