Kayluss is updated.
I hadn't really sat down and made a plan for leveling up Kayluss until now so there are some small changes to the character. Nothing major or anything that affects his current build or anything he did in the previous scenarios but works with the future build a lot better. If this is a problem please let me know and I'll change things back. Also while I was updating his sheet I noticed a few small errors on my part that I have now fixed. Again nothing major but changes none the less.
Ready to move out!

On your sheet next to your Will save it says +1 vs Enchantment. I'm assuming that is what changed because I don't see anything for that on your sheet. Need to change that to reflect the +1 vs Divine Spells on all saves.

To draw the boundary-
Once the opening scene with Aram Zey ends, the option to pre-purchase items as part of your last chronicle sheet ends. After that you will have to find and buy whatever you want IC if possible and it will be recorded on this chronicle sheet.
Fair enough.

Continuation of the PFS pbp series for Alie, Kayluss, Sekhemre, Wadi, Fog, & Aldred.
If you guys bought anything significant let me know here. I'll be starting The Bloodcove Disguise tomorrow.
I apologize for interrupting a game that looks to be in progress. I've been trying to locate a good resource for joining PFS PbP games on here and have not had a lot of luck. Ithuriel, I've ran across posts by you several times and it looks as if you might would be able to offer me sound advice on locating and/or joining games of this nature. Is there a chance I could get some aid? Once again, I apologize for impinging upon this OOC. I'll keep an eye on this thread to see if you offer a response here, but to avoid further infringements on the game an email address I can be reached at is
griffin_psalmist@hotmail.com
Thanks to any and all who could offer me suggestions. Once again I sincerely express my regret for this interruption and I appreciate deeply any help that is extended. I wish you all a great game with a plethora of natural 20s. Cheers!
Edit: If you'd like me to, I'd be happy to delete this post from your thread so as to keep it from ruining the flow of conversation.
ithuriel |
No worries at all. This is the discussion thread for general bs and you are welcome to drop in here.
As far as finding an PFS official pbp to join, that is tough. I know some people run them on other messageboards than paizo, but I don't recall where offhand. My best suggestion would be starting a thread in the Gamer Connection forum that clearly says what you are looking for in the title. Other posters who are looking for the same thing will chime in, and with any luck a GM will step in or one of the interested players might buck up and GM for the others.
This group over here isn't pbp, but we play using online table software in realtime:
http://groups.google.com/group/pathfinder-society-online-collective
There aren't a lot of games scheduled right now, but they ebb and flow. Post-holidays right now, but I'm sure they will pick up again soon. Normally there would be a game at least every other week, sometimes several per week.
ithuriel |
Once you create a post in the Gamer Connection thread, you might consider also starting a thread in the Pathfinder Society General Discussion forum letting people know and directing them to the mustering thread with a link. That way your recruiting thread is in the right place, but you have also alerted the forum full of PFS players to check it out when they might not otherwise look in the Gamer Connection forum.
Good luck with it. :)

Thank you so much for your understanding and your advisement. I will definitely do what you have suggested and see what comes my way. If in the course of asking around I find out information about forums used as contact centers for online PFS games, I'll do my best to jump in here long enough to drop a link. Continue enjoying your game and I hope we get to share a table sometime. Cheers!

And that's the end of part one! You made through the meat grinder of GenCon 2011 in one piece.
Some more behind the scenes talk now that we are at the end-
Having 6 PCs with high diplomacy rolls made the "disguise" part of this adventure ridiculously easy, but the trade off was the lack of weapons and armor for most of you. In reality you only had to roll disguise checks once per Act for a total of 5 times. I preferred to trick you there in an attempt to add some tension about the disguise. I'm letting you know now in case any of you run this later- I only counted the rolls to maintain your cover once per Act, though I did count rolls for Act 4 to see if it would trigger. Any extra rolls I asked for were just to make you worry.
In the end it was only a DC 12 roll. Each failure added one point to your awareness total and some events added points as well. You finished with 10 points between all of you. At 15 you would have triggered the optional encounter of Act 4. At 20 Bloodcove goes into lockdown preventing any and all faction missions as well as purchasing goods for the expedition and you would have been run out of town.
I'll try to get the chronicle sheets sent out today. They are more or less ready now, just need prestige totals and stuff. If anyone has a dayjob roll, make it over here.
Alie- I'm not sure, but I think you haven't completed your first faction mission. If I'm wrong just remind me. If you haven't done it, make an IC post describing how you complete it on the jungle trail which passes over river bridges here and there.
ithuriel |
As far as riding the horses- you have four horses who are pulling a wagon loaded with significantly more than 2 tons of supplies. 2 more people could potentially ride on the bench seat of the wagon with Scevola though.
Part Two begins on the jungle trail, so there is no opportunity to buy anything between chronicles. All abilities like spells and hps are magically replenished as we begin part II, because that's how these things go. You can prep different spells as well if you like. It doesn't open on the same day.

Thanks Ithuriel! A fun adventure, with some tough (or at least worrying) encounters. And I was getting a bit paranoid about those disguise rolls.
As we don't have time to buy equipment, do we have time to do our day jobs? I wouldn't think so from a common sense point of view, but the magic of organised play does sometimes trump common sense ...
Kayluss |
What about leveling?
Nevynxxx |
DM, how do we know who levelled? Alie is my first PFS character, so I am not 100% clear on when we level exactly.
You level when you get your 3rd XP. So Fog will level after the second part.
ithuriel |
All of you who have ranks in perform, craft or profession can make a day job roll even though it doesn't make sense. The day job thing is a weird abstraction. You get one roll at the end of every scenario whether the downtime between them is 30 seconds or 3 years. You can just consider it some work that your guy did back before this adventure and he or she kept that money in reserve.
Purchasing things is still dependent on being somewhere to access civilization though. You could use faction points to get something in the middle of nowhere, but if you are outside of a city of at least 5,000 people it will cost 5 more prestige than whatever it should have cost. That's why I was giving the "last call for purchases" warning mid way through this scenario.
Wadi Ahk'kolon |
Wadi is leveled up.
Day Job roll: Perform 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Sekhemre of Karnak |
Day Job Roll - Craft(Alchemy): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28.
1)Vial of Giant Ant Repellent from the Mwangi Expanse (x2)
2)Vial of Giant Ant Ichor (x2)
3)Bottle of Dwarven Firewine (x2)
4)Bottle of Elven Absinthe (x2)
5)Vial of Flayleaf (x2)
6)Vial of Pesh (x2)
7)Vial of Opium (x2)
8)Senzer's Antimalarial (x2)
Could you please 'cert' these - I realise that there will be no mechanical benefit; they are simply part of his 'collection' :-)
Kayluss |
Kayluss is leveled!
Not sure if I get to role or not since I just took the skill but:
Profession (guide):1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
ithuriel |
All sheets out.
All of the "option to buy" items are marked out on this one.
Details:
-The greenblood oil was an item the Act IV opponents had. You never fought them as the encounter wasn't triggered.
-The potion of invisibility wasn't actually acquired.
I didn't reduce it from the rewards for that scene, just as an option to buy item since none of your PCs were able to pocket it IC.
-The wand was one of the witch's items. She managed to give up and get away without giving anything up.
The -48 gp I marked down was from the encounter with Xeanja the witch. It's a minor loss reflecting that even in defeat she had you in a tough position and managed to walk away from the scene without giving up anything valuable.

Ith, I started the discussion thread for the pbp I'll be running.
G.M.E.W.'s pbp
Anyone else who is interested,
It looks like I have one slot left so the first person to post a PFS character on the thread above is in. (does not need full stats just a little back-story for now.)
Thanks,
Evan
ithuriel |
I probably have 10 or less player credits, but the Devil We Know series is among them. I've played all 4. That's okay though, things are about to get hectic here so maybe it wasn't the best time for me to join another pbp.
Once you get through those I'll keep an eye on what comes after if you have openings at that point.
I'll kick off part two (Rescue at Azlant Ridge) here in a while.
ithuriel |
I have 3 PFS characters ;) 4 really, though I've never played one.
The first guy I retired when the GM rewards system changed. He was like 5th level with half the wealth of a player character who had actually played the scenarios due to the old rules.
I have these as player credits:
4, 13, 24, 29, 30, 41, 48, 55, 2-13

Hey-
Let me ask how you guys are feeling about the 'call out your actions as a group then I sort them by init' system? I thought it might be faster to do things that way, but you do lose an element of your tactical decision making process by not being able to see exactly what has happened right up to your turn. If we go act strictly in order, I will drop the summary thing entirely because the thread will already read in chronological order and my combat posts will be strictly enemy and/or npc actions and ooc.
Give me a group vote on whether you would like to have players posting actions in init order for maximum tactical advantage, or calling them out as a group so no one waits on anyone else.
Sekhemre of Karnak |
I am happy with the way you are doing things at present, Ith :-)
I see no problem with simply posting actions that read "If X, then Y; if A, then B", or when I post, reading what other people have already stated they are doing that round, and adjusting accordingly...
