p.106 Elemental, Aether:
Telekinetic Throw DC isn't calculated correctly:
Generic Entry
Telekinetic Throw (Ex) An aether elemental can fling a creature
or object (with a maximum range of 480 feet). A creature
receives a Fortitude save to avoid being thrown (the save DC
is Constitution-based). The telekinetic throw deals the listed
damage to both the thrown creature or object and the target.
The aether elemental can throw a creature or object that
weighs at most 50 pounds per Hit Die the elemental possesses.
Small Aether Elemental:
2 HD, 12 CON, listed TK Throw DC: 12
Calculated TK Throw DC if DC = 10 + 1/2 HD + Con Mod:
10+1+1 = 12
--------------------------------
Now the actual things in need of fixing...
Medium Aether Elemental:
4 HD, 16 CON, listed TK Throw DC: 16
Calculated TK Throw DC:
10+2+3 = 15
Large Aether Elemental:
8 HD, 18 CON, listed TK throw DC: 16
Calcilated TK throw DC:
10+4+4 = 18
Huge Aether Elemental:
10 HD, 20 CON, listed TK throw DC: 17
Calculated TK throw DC:
10+5+5 = 20
Greater Aether Elemental:
13 HD, 22 CON, listed TK throw DC: 18
Calculated TK Throw DC:
10+6+6 = 22
Elder Aether Elemental:
16 HD, 24 CON, listed TK throw DC: 19
Calculated TK throw DC:
10+8+7 = 25

Pg. 83 - Plesiosaurus
Not really an error, but it's worth mentioning that this creature is an update to a creature whose stats were originally just an alteration of another dinosaur (and they have quite a few differences).
In the first Bestiary, the elasmosaurus was stat'd out in that book on page 84, and in its description it said you could create a pleisosaurus [sic] by applying the young simple template. This results in a plesiosaurus at CR 6, unlike its Bestiary 5 version at CR 2.

Pg. 116 - Firbolg
The firbolg is technically not proficient with the greataxe it's wielding. As a humanoid, he would only have natural proficiency with simple weapons. He would need Martial Weapon Proficiency (greataxe).
AUTHOR'S NOTE: The Firbolg's proficiency problem is common among giants throughout the various Bestiaries, but not 100%. Each individual giant statblock in these books jumps from the giant having the feat allowing them to use their weapons, only to have the next giant erroneously omit it*. Personally, I have a house rule that fixes this for the most part. In 3.5, giants were their own type that had proficiency with martial and simple weapons. Now, they're a humanoid subtype, and inherit only the humanoid simple weapon proficiencies. I have a house rule that the giant subtype makes them automatically proficient with whatever weapon they're described as using in their stat block. This frees up those giants whose writers did include those weapon proficiency feats to instead choose something else.
*EDIT: case in point, see the eclipse giant on page 121 and the sun giant on page 123 further on.
Strife2002 |
Pg. 118 - Gegenees
The gegenees is a monstrous humanoid with the giant subtype, but giant is a subtype for humanoids, not monstrous humanoids. Monstrous humanoids don't have subtypes the way that humanoids do.
This creature needs to either lose its giant subtype, or have its type changed to humanoid.
(Personally I'd say lose the giant subtype. Having its type change will reduce its hit points.)
EDIT: Technically losing the giant subtype will remove low-light vision from this creature's abilities. One could just say they have it anyway, however.

Pg. 148 - Karkadann horn
The karkadann horn is a monster trophy that is itself a useful item but no price is presented should you want to sell one. I asked James Jacobs what his opinion of a good price would be, and he gave an interesting and very informative answer on what a good rule-of-thumb is for pricing monster trophies.
In any case, his opinion is that it wouldn't be unreasonable for a karkadann horn to have a market price of 100 gp; double what a vial of antitoxin would be given the similarity between the items but also given the horn's greater versatility and ability to be stacked with antitoxin. This isn't official of course, but it's worth noting in case your players try to sell one.

Pg. 232 - Variant giant mantis shrimp
The variant mantis shrimp here are missing their new CRs. Typically with entries like this you see something like "Cave Mantis Shrimp (CR +1)" or something like that. I suppose it's possible the cave mantis shrimp and sand mantis shrimp still have CR 9's, but it seems logical that the mantis shrimp lord would have a higher CR than the giant mantis shrimp.

p.230
If the Shen has "all the natural attacks of a true dragon", where are the wing attacks? Something is missing that the Shen doesn't get them.
Shen doesn't get them probably because they fall into the flavor-realm of the Imperial true dragons from Bestiary 3 (Asian-themed; think Shenron from Dragon Ball, which was modeled after Shenlong from myth). Anyway, the Imperial dragons are true dragons that don't have wings and therefore don't get wing attacks (but get a more wicked gore attack, I believe).

The Danava has 3 slams... What's the 3rd one if it only has 2 fists?
Horrifically, the Tanuki from Bestiary 3 also has this...issue. It gets a mysterious slam it gets to use even when using a weapon that takes both hands...yikes.

incorrect XP for given CR of 1
XP CR: Computed: 400 Stat Block: 200Correction: it's not the XP listing that is incorrect, it's the CR. A humanoid level 1 character (with PC class) is a CR 1/2 unless the race has an explicit CR modifier, which is not the case for androids.#
The same is true for the ghoran on page 119.
Not true, chopswil has the right of it. Some humanoids that are class-based DO NOT follow the rule of Level - 1 to determine CR (such as the drow noble and svirfneblin). If a class-based humanoid doesn't follow that rule, it calls it out in their intro paragraph under their "<X RACE> CHARATERS" section. For example, both the Android and Ghoran have the following sentence in that section:
"A android's/ghoran's challenge rating is equal to her class level."

if you read my original post i say "incorrect XP for given CR of 1"
i never said the xp is right or wrong nor do i say the cr is right or wrongi'm saying IF CR =1 THEN XP can't be 200
it's up to paizo to decide which ONE is incorrect
