Advice for a Horse Rider Build

Advice

Looking to make a horse rider for a campaign. Not sure if Samurai/Cavalier Order of the Green, Ranger Horse Lord, Fighter Roughrider best suits the vision of a human or half elf archer who can also dismount and do some melee. Also is there any way to purchase a hunting dog and add boon companion to it so it progresses in strength with the horse?

The Boon Companion feat only applies to animal companions or familiars (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/general-feats/boon-companion), and so for you to apply it to a hunting dog, the dog would need to be an animal companion. Normally this would be possible through the use of the Animal Ally feat (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/general-feats/animal-ally) and then apply the Boon Companion feat. However, the Animal Ally feat can only be taken if you don't have an animal companion or a mount that advances as an animal companion - I think all of the listed class choices - and any I know of - count as one of the above, meaning you can't take the dog as an animal companion in this way.

Also note that if you're playing with PFS (some people post in the general Pathfinder board with questions for PFS characters) there is a ruling that you cannot have more than one companion/eidolon/mount with you at the same time.

You could take 4 levels of cavalier then multi-class into hunter. Take boon companion apply it to your hunter animal companion. At level 7 take Horse master feat. Bam you have a Mount and animal companion at your full HD.

The Ranger Archetype Beastmaster allows you to divide up companion levels between multiple companions. If you select two or three companions and then select Boon Companion for each companion, will that boost all of the companions to druid level?

No, remember that your effective druid level for ranger is ranger level -3, and boon companion doesn't stack and only gives 4 druid levels. So you take your first animal companion at level 4 (let say a horse). Your horse is level 1 ranger 4. at level 5 you take a different animal companion (Let's say a dog), and you take boon companion for the horse. You have a level 5 horse/1 dog/5 ranger.

Now you've gone gotten to level 7 put two levels into dog and a boon companion into dog (because you don't want dog to die). So you have level 5 horse/7 dog/7 ranger.

You can play form there, but both animal companions will never equal ranger level at the same time.

What about the Hunter Archetype of Packmaster? A lvl 10 Hunter would divide 5 levels to each the horse and dog. If he selects Boon Companion twice, would that boost both companions?
