Does a familiar with the Figment archetype need food and water? They are, after all, just the character's imagination made manifest.

No, because even if it died from food/water depriving, it would return the next day.

They probably eat imaginary food.

You feed it pet rock food. Obviously.

Also, I completely misunderstood this title at first viewing. I thought you would need an imaginary stove in order to fry up some imaginary chicken legs.

Man, that's definitely some... Food for thought.

it would probably depend on if the character imagined it does...

edit: on that note... I wonder if it RAI works for the chosen one paladin as a familiar... as it calls out not working for witches.

Strangely it is also thought for food.

RAW it does not work. The chosen one's familiar has the emissary archetype, and emissary is not compatible with figment (they both trade out deliver touch spells).

Multiply 300 Calories by the square root of -1.

I just assume it pops into existence at full health when you wake up. Starvation wouldn't enter into the equation unless its owner never ever sleeps. In that case it eats whatever its species typically eats.

Yes, it does. It's not actually imaginary, it is merely a product of its master's mind. At no point do the rules state its type changes.
