Shimmerglens vegance?

Rise of the Runelords

So my players just returned lamatars body, all went well, scorcerer got the nymth boon and they were leaving the Forrest, however, the wizard decided she really really wanted some pixie dust so she sent a lightning bolt at a pixie and killed it in one go.

The trees all started speaking to each other sending a message back to the new guardian telling him what happened and to come quick, so the party did a runner out of the Forrest.

I'm thinking of having them summoned to the shimmer glens to stand trial or lamatar will take away the boom and maybe even issue a threat to fort rannick as the wizard is currently it's new lord.

Then if they come and manage to bluff their way out of it then lamatar will offer them some pixie dust as a peace offering then the matter is settled.

So two questions, what do you think?

And what kind of creatures other than pixies would be in the shimmer glens, I'm thinking big body guard type things in case it kicks off so the players can have a big fight?

Yeah, that was a stupid play by the wizard. If she really wanted pixie dust, she was probably in a good position to just ask for some.

I don't really see the fey conducting a trial - that's way too organized for the capricious elder races. (If they did, though, I suspect it look a lot like the trial of the Knave of Hearts, though less comedic and far darker.) I would think that Lamatar would demand repayment for the death of one of the Shimmerglen subjects. A curse, or even better, a geas would be an excellent way to show his displeasure at the death of one of his charges, but give the heroes a way to repay him, outside open war.

Say what!? The new lord of Ft. Rannick, after defeating the Kreeg ogres and restoring Lamatar to life and lifting the curse on the Shimmerglens decides to kill a pixie for no reason other than acquisition of pixie dust? What, pray tell, is the alignment of this murderer?

And you think Lamatar should offer pixie dust as a peace offering? And the pc's can bluff their way out of an act of evil?

I suggest the Boon is gone, never to return, unless the other pc's drag the wizard before him in chains. Further, Lamatar demands they pay to raise the pixie or he curses the wizard and Rannick. The people of Turtleback Ferry are told of this heinous act and they lose any faith or trust in the group.

If the pc's don't do something to make this right, their leadership of Rannick is doomed. And Svevenka is actively hostile toward them when they get to Xin Shalast, encouraging local creatures to attack them (increase wandering monster encounters) and joining in if she sees an opening. Under no circumstances does she help them.

To be fair, she asked yap for pixie dust, but when they first met I went with the fact that he didn't know her, so he said their is no such thing, just a rumour, then after the raising I had yap continue the lie because it was funny, but each she went too far, and she is CN... For now.

Murdering a (potentially lying) ally on a (greedy) whim? I think that that counts as CE. Maybe it's time for her to look for an Atonement spell, otherwise she'll probably end up siding with some of the villains further down the AP plot line.

Random murder is both pointless and silly. They have just had an ally converted to an enemy, the boon is gone and they will face harassment and enmity from now on. The resources available to Lamatar are probably fairly limited or the pc's help would not have been needed, if they leave the fortress Lamatar and his allies burn it down if they left no one strong enough to hold it behind.
Harassment of Turte Back should turn them against the pc's and trheaten the trade Magnimar cares about so unless the pc's stop it they lose their reward from the mayoe.

I'm thinking this, ive kind of made my own thing with the shimmer glens Away of what it probably is but bare with me.

When they return to fort rannick as they still need to go and deal with Barl as last time one of them died and they just managed to escape.

Their will be a convoy of battle imps outside guarding an envoy who has come to escort the wizard to the shimmerglens to stand trial at a sort of tribunal thing, were lamatar will be the voice of the trees (who are actually oakmen, i decided several very old oakmen are like elders of the forest here and they were travelling through the trees watching the party when the "incident" occurred.)

If the wizard comes i will have a little trial thing, basically she can try and bluff her way out of it but as the oakmen saw what she did she will be at big penalty's to her bluff.

If she tells the truth (which she has told me out of character that she didnt expect it to actually kill the pixie and felt bad about it) then the elders will believe her and judge it as accidental murder, and if she pays for the resurrection cost of the pixie and swears never to return to the shimmerglens then the case will be closed.

If she goes on about still wanting pixie dust then lamatar will state that her greed is an insult to the glens, however, she is welcome to ASK a pixie on her way out.

Then it will be a case of diplomacy checks with penalties after what she did.

Thoughts?

OK, bad wizard, no bisket *spray with water bottle*.

IF the wizard is actually feeling bad about it, the wizard needs to do something and come clean. Putting an "E" on the wizards sheet kinda requires no remorse (although the rationalizing "I didnt expect to kill it" doesn't hold much water unless this is a new player).

Penalizing the Sorcerer in this case does seem a little unfair, some of the other challenges that are going to come from NOT having fey allies should be penalty enough.

On a bit of a contrarian note however, fey can be pretty capricious and cruel - even "good" ones. The fey could well understand someone being upset with being lied to and COULD POSSIBLY understand some over reaction followed by remorse - with the right approach and diplomacy skill checks some of the problems can be made to go away.

Or the fey could just become a bigger pain in the behind then the Kreegs ever could be.

Let the players talk themselves out of or deeper into the mess the wizard created.

CN? No way. Murder for personal gain is most definitely an alignment infraction even for CN characters; even if she feels bad about it.

What exactly does pixie dust do?

I swear Golarion became Neverland so gradually I didn't even see it happening.
