Not sure if this is answered somewhere here, but how many traits will we get and will drawbacks be allowed?
Two traits. No drawbacks.
I'm going to officially say "yes" to Background Skills, though Lore and Artistry will be handled on a case by case basis (and we can work them out after the final selection.)
Arnakalar |
Can you tell us a little about magic items in your game? Specifically, are they fairly commonly available, or rare? Is a 1st level wand something you can buy in a shop (and will we have access to such things - I know in early kingmaker you're out in the wilderness, and in the kingdom building rules you can build magic shops and such). Are players going to be able to purchase specific/custom items? e.g. Dr'z'ez the drow ranger really wants a +1 Keen Frost Scimitar and has the cash. Can he 'put in an order' to get it made, does he have to take whatever is 'on the rack', or are magic items rare and powerful and you don't just go walking into the mall to get a magic sword?
Is retaining allowed, and how good a reason would you need to consider it? For example: Character A took a feat to make his character work at 3rd, but at 7th got a class ability/magic item/whatever that makes it obsolete. Can he retrain it? Or, Character B is a cleric of Gorum, however over the course of the game and hanging out with half a dozen paladins of Erastil, has a change of heart after significant RP, and changes faiths - can she retrain as seems appropriate?
Thanks for the regular updates!

Well, this turned into a longer post than I'd planned, but here's some somewhat boring assorted Campaign Logistics stuff! It's going to count for my post for the evening ;)
Magic Items. Magic Items are intrinsic to game balance in Pathfinder, especially for Martial characters. Not having access to upgrades can be a significant drawback whether it be magic weapons or Spellbooks.
I often tweak loot to suit the party; I personally find that wresting the Greatsword of Awesomeness from the Evil Badguy of Evil to be more exciting than going down the Ye Olde Magic Shoppe. I also ask the party for a Wish List of stuff they'd like to see and pay close attention to WBL guidelines. I've occasionally hit the Reboot button and had people restock to their WBL level if things get too far out of whack (to high or too low Wealth.)
Early game, if someone wants to buy a specific magic item, it'll really vary depending on the item's rarity on how hard it is to purchase it. The way I ran specific item purchases previously in Kingmaker, if there was an item that wasn't available with local merchants (I created a random "merchant inventory"), it could be commissioned to be purchased from Brevoy with half the price down as a deposit, with a variable amount of time it would take to be available. There might be some items that are unavailable (Intelligent Evil swords?) but a +1 Keen Frost Scimitar would probably be doable. Later, you have more control over minor magical items that might be available, but high level gear is still a pretty niche market.
Retraining. I allow retraining, depending on the reasoning. I usually give people a free pass during level 1 to retrain if they decide a feat or class feature isn't fitting, as long as it doesn't significantly change the character. Beyond that, retraining will be allowed either using the rules from UC (retraining a feat that's no longer useful) or for free (changing deities after an in-game conversion.)
Leveling. Leveling will occur at a "speed of plot" basis. It can be fun to scrape together every XP from exploring and questing, but for Kingmaker especially it relies on random encounters to make XP budgets per level. I prefer to tie leveling to significant accomplishments rather than grubbing over "10 more kobolds til we level!"
Posting Frequency Expectations. This campaign will be a Marathon rather than a Sprint and I expect people to post at least once a day. Sometimes a simple OOC "<Knock>" to signify that you don't have anything to add but agree with the way things are going is good to make sure it doesn't feel like the thread is deserted. However, RL happens and takes precedence over gaming; it's quite allright to say "I'll be unable to post for the weekend, will be back on X day." When needed (combat) otherwise you'll be on auto-delay or put under the control of the kind and benevolent GM. If multiple people are going to be unavailable, we'll take a brief break (Valentines day?)
The key things are Communication and Momentum. As long as the group commits to openly communicating, frequently updating, and keeping the momentum of the game going, it should hopefully be a fun campaign!
Rule of Two For decisions that come up in the course of gameplay such as "What hex should we explore next?", "Should we double the time to use Survival to get more Provisions?", or "Do we attempt to negotiate?" I tend to rely on the Rule of Two. If at least two people post to a specific action, that's what happens. We'll revisit it if it seems like specific individuals are controling gameplay, but this does help keep up momentum instead of decision paralysis.
A few important game-changing decisions will require quorum.
No PvP, don't be a jerk No stealing, actively conspiring against team members, or using damaging spells that affect the party. Using spells such as Fireball that would hit a party member requires consent from the affected individual to go off, and I'll warn people if that would happen.
Also, don't be a jerk or constantly disruptive to the group. This is going to be a group collaborative effort and if someone is spoiling the fun for everyone else, even for in-character reasons, I'll bring it up in private messages. If it continues, you'll sadly get dropped from the group. This includes Murderhoboism, Leeroyism, and Special Sneaky Snowflake Syndrom characters. I'll elaborate on this a bit further later.
That's it for tonight. Keep the questions coming if people have any. It's helping me flesh out the Campaign Submission Requirements.

Waiting for that. The info provided thus far is awesome, and incredibly intriguing.
If I may suggest, given the massive draw you're generating here, it'd be best to come up with a specific, efficient & encompassing system to process submissions for after you close recruitment & begin sifting through the torrent of applications. Maybe a tiered process with various key points for each level, to more quickly weed out the obvious denials, rather than pouring over every single character submission.
I don't envy the task you're setting for yourself here, but I'm clearly not alone in my enthusiasm for your will to manage it.
"Four for you Glen Coco. You go Glen Coco!"

I love the fact that you are posting so frequently and with a lot of details. I bodes well for the campaign and I for one am really looking forward to it.
I think I am a little excessive on my posting frequency, I check the boards every hour or 2, sometimes even more than that. So IF I got selected, expect more than just 1 post a day, probably about 4-5 depending on what is happening and who is talking to me.
Wolfspirit : I do have one last question for you (at least I think it is the last question), how will you be doing spellcasters for hire? Kerri will be getting Permanency cast on her later and would prefer to pay someone to cast it for her, as she would have such a low spell list. Would this be viable, or would she have to select it still?

A question about traits:
I have two traits in mind that seem particularly suited to Raven: Mercenary (to give a nod to her years of mercenary work) and Bruising Intellect (to show Raven's prickly, dry wit, as well as the fact that she's really damn scary, despite the fact that she has a low Charisma). However, they are both "Social" traits, and by PFS rules, I can't take two traits from the same category. Can I take them anyways?

Looking for work, world traveler, imperial soldier, and survivor all have some of the same sort of flavor/mechanics as Mercenary. It looks like they're all just about regional traits, too - I feel like you could probably reskin one of those, or justify Mercenary being a regional trait.

If I understood right, Wolf spirit said he would consider technically nonstandard tweaks like that after the team is picked; Arnakalar has some good ideas for alternatives

Oh my this has been busy, and I was just hanging around other games while waiting for the recruitment to start.
Going to apply with Iavas. Cleric/Rogue/Evangelist of Desna. I have built her a couple of times already, both Gestalt and Normal, so I was just waiting for the exact rules until fixing her build.
Her role in the kingdom would be most likely councilor, high priest or spy, but if things click with the king, consort isn't impossible.

The initial Character Creation Guide doc is up! I also updated my Kingmaker Wolfspirit alias profile with some expectations for posting frequency, post formatting, and the like. I may tweak both based on any feedback people might have.
Later today I'll be setting up a new thread to post Submissions to (right now the Guide just has placeholders), creating a doc to manage submissions, and setting up a Campaign Page with the info I've posted in Teasers. For now I'm getting some sleep ;)
Please note that submissions MUST be made to the new thread I'll be posting. Previous Submissions in this thread will not be considered to make sure that everyone agrees to the posted guidelines and that no one lost interest in the interim.
Albion, The Eye |
I simply have to throw my hat in the ring for this one - it is just looking too good to pass.
Even though I know this is not yet the recruitment thread, I'll just throw my character concept out there. Ever since I thought this guy up, I figured Kingmaker would be the perfect place for him.
I admit I am not sure yet what he will be mechanically, but I am leaning towards a melee focused Bard (Inspire Courage = the sarg. barking orders, Perform (Oratory), etc.). Other options would fit in very nicely though (Ranger, Slayer, or even Fighter). It is something to be decided upon later.
It is kind of a wall of text, so peruse at your own risk ;)
"Boys! Boys! Just shut the hell up and listen! No one is asking your opinion right now, there will be time for it after we clear this damned hole - Alastair, keep those heals coming towards us - I am counting on you to keep us up and running for as long as needed, just make an extra prayer to your God this morning or whatever... Jules, I am still waiting on that intel for their setup - instead of going on with the blabbering, get your unseenness going and get movin! Lucian, I want to be fighting on our terms, bring on your pits, flames or whatever you need to bring, just keep it UNDER CONTROL. The rest of you boys and girls, stay tight on my hairy arse as ticks - MOVE OUT!"
He had been there before - another hole, another humanoid tribe robbing, pillaging, and being generally nasty - nothing different, nothing unusual. The Captain is still in diapers, so it is up to Reknar to lead them in, clean up the place, and Team Badger wins the day so the Cap. can collect the honors and... Buy some more diapers I guess...
It matters not, he is there for his share and his boys - they trust him and he knows he can take them where they need to go.
"Godamn boys! What the hell are you doing Lucian?! Do you not see that goblin roller making short work of our left flank?! Stay sharp or I will be the one rolling over you, you bony excuse for a wizard - stay SHARP!"
He usually kept to himself, but they knew he would be the first to step up for the hardest of things when they were in the thick of it - making decisions. No point in waiting for the brass, too tied up in pleasing the Commander and making "strategic" decisions - when the s*** hits the fan, there is no time to ponder relations with the neighboring kingdom, or the Lady and kids waiting back home - you need to let go, evaluate the here and now and MOVE. Stop and you are dead.
That is why the boys and girls in Badger company turn to him - bottom line, not making a decision is worse than a bad one.
Releasing his sword, previously stuck on a patricularly hard hobgoblin head, he smiled at how far they have come since he was put in charge of the rag tag team - "The badgers lack Discipline!" - the Cap. would shout at him over and over again, but that was the whole beauty of it. Sure enough they were as mixed as it gets, but everyonw contributed to the whole, and they all knew and accepted their place - "We get the job done!" - was his most common retort, which however simple it may be, was the pure and clean truth.
It was raining hard that day - the Badgers soaked and pissed kept gnawing at his heels - "Makes no sense to invade a spookers hole under this weather - the traps will be harder to spot and disarm, visibility is reduced to crap, and we still need to manage the approach without losing half the men!" - Lucian shouted in his face - the wizard was much more than a friend after two years service in the wilds, but he was starting to grate on his nerves - "Look Lucian, I agree with every single piece of crap you are throwing my way - but we ARE going in - Badger company gets the job done, and this needs to be done. Damn! Was I the only one listening when the crying girl recounted how these bastards tore up her family?! We are doing this!"
Lucian just nodded as he usually did when Reknar suddenly got into altruistic mode - some things simply tickled him the wrong way, and he already knew there was no arguing against it - they would invade and clear out the goblin hole, as always.
-------------------------------------------
"Hard work, that's how things get done" - it seemed those words had echoed in his head forever, initially associated to the image of his father toiling away in the fields with him in tow, he seemed gigantic, bigger and stronger than life as he pushed and urged the family horse - Underdog - ever forward, plowing the land, year after year. He was too young yet, too naive to understand that life is so much more complex than that - that the bruises and pained look on his mothers' face were anything besides bad luck of having bumped again against the damned door, and that the word 'bastard' uttered in not so hushed tones at night when supposedly he was asleep, were no mere coincidence.
He grew up on this 'sunshining' father figure that meant everything to the boy - ignorance never being so much blissful as it was in his own world. But no one stays young forever...
The sick crunching sound felt disgustingly rewarding as his fist hit the mans' face once, and again, and again - "You dare?!" - came the retaliation amidst spittled blood and teeth, in the background a womans' scream he could not quite place or recognize among the haze of anger - again and again he hit and got hit - "Hard work!" - his mind shouted at him every time he bordered on the edges of consciousness, so he shook the sweet good night away and pressed on - the man was huge, strong as an ox and even more furious, but he was determined - it would end today.
"DEAD!" - the word pierced the haze, making him pause and ponder - he knew the voice and knew the word, but he was unaware of the conjuncture until he noticed his bloody knuckles and the, by now unrecognizable, face he had been pounding into oblivion - "Hard work..."
-------------------------------------------
"Prison is not easy fellas, but then again, what is in this life?" - he would sometimes recount to Badger company around a fire and a hearthy meal - "It gets you doing things that you never thought possible - you either toughen up or you die on the spot. And don't believe any stories that you always find someone honorable inside, willing to lend you an hand - that is plain and simple bull****. You need to fend for yourself or suck it up when you can't, but above anything else, it is all about surviving, living to eat the damned gruel another day, and face a threat at lunch time - I learned a lot though"
After murdering his father, Reknar was quickly and summarily condemned to incarceration, spending most of his juvenile years in prison - the boy was broken when he entered that place, and callous when he left - the opportunity presented itself as it usually did every couple of years - anyone willing to serve in the army or navy got their sentence commuted by 2 years for each one served - he grabbed it with two hands and crawled out of that hellhole.
The military weren't much better, ex-convicts being considered 2nd class soldiers, treated almost as poorly as they were in prison, poorly geared, thrown at the worst of assignments, commanded by the least able of the officers - no one cared about body count amongst Jailites, they were there as fodder. Instead of fighting it, Reknar embraced it - among the rabble he found variety - anyone can end up in jail, so he met with the most varied walks of life, and he soaked it all in - he learned discipline from Riktor, an old grizzled veteran of war who had murdered his commanding officer after he had sent them to be massacred on a tactical deathtrap, with Janice the dual wielding dagger hired assassin to be, he learned passion and to speak before swinging his blade...
He met countless, befriended some, and watched most of them die on the field.
"Hah! Honorable death you say?! Come on... Nothing honorable about dying lad, and by the way, you say you will meet your God in the Seven Heavens right? Well, show me someone that has seen them, and if it is half as wonderful as you are painting it, I'll slit my own throat just to get there. In the meantime, just keep your wits about ya and stay ALIVE. As for death, and if you really must pray for anything at all, pray that yours is a quick and painless one"
Through grit and blood he climbed the ranks - proved himself and his Badger Company able and willing, but it was for naught as he came to understand - even after his 3 years of service were completed things did not improve - others still looked at him, his boys and girls like "Jailites", they kept throwing them into the deepest of possible mess, and his commanding officer was still an incompetent jerk. Curiously enough, that was perhaps the only time in his life that he felt some sort of sense of duty - towards those that looked at him for leadership, encouragement, and above all those 'oh so dreaded' decisions.
By this point he was free to leave, but he chose not to - at a certain point, and after a particularly messy affair at the Drecchard Bog, he was even offered another command, not a jailite team this time, but real soldiers - he refused without a second thought, and returned to his soggy and filthy barracks to down a couple of watered ales with the Badgers.
He was already five years into service, and never made it past sergeant - "When a troll comes wailing at ya, it really doesn't matter how many stripes you have on your shoulder, or how many plumes you have on your helmet now does it?" - it mattered not, he was being quite successful at keeping the Badger company up and running, causalties to a minimum, and a high rate of success - so much so that it made a lot of high ranked officers feel awkward, and that is never good.
The badgers operated smoothly - parts were well defined and the hierarchy well taken in - listen to the Sargent, ignore the Captain - simple. But nothing could have prepared them for that day - "With your permission SIR, you have got to be kidding me - you want me to take the whole company into a god damned crypt, with confirmed hauntings reported, as is?! Sir, we are ill-equipped to deal with any sort of undead menace - as I reported over six months ago at the Tellis mess-up, we have received none of the blanches requested, Tulion has been refused his robes because the church believes his work here is a waste of resources, and Lucian tells me that the reports so far are an understatement of what can be found in there - the undead concentration points to something else in there... And we are supposed to get in the hole, and clean it up?!"
He didn't have to hear the answer to know what it was. As he left the tent, his two corporals waiting outside needed no questions - Reknars' grim face was enough - "This is going to hurt"
He hasn't shared any of what actually happened in the infested crypt with anyone since that day - the surviving members of the Badger company emerged three days later - covered in blood, Reknar carried Tulion on his arms - his body showing evidence of dessication, barely a husk of skin and bones, Lucian followed them, his left arm swollen and festering with some sort of unholy sickness, one of his eyes gouged out, barely walking.
Around his chest, the sergeant bore a harness, connected via improvisated ropes to a pall, where three others laid, their sunken eyes dark, their mouths locked into a perpetual, silent scream. Without a word the three wounded were delivered to the infirmary - the physicians shaking their heads, lost at what to do. Reknar kept on, crossing the barracks, and wading right into the chapel that served the military quarters, striding in before appaled eyes he deposited his priest companion body on the altar, turning to the priests to one side with a sneer - "There's your martyr - I'm sure you will praise his deeds - remember to tell everyone he died screaming"
He did not murder the captain, did not even address him - even though he would never forget the Krastigan name, he was irrelevant after all, as a man, and as a commander - he just took the blood soaked pall from his back, and without missing a step, both him and Lucian gathered their gear and left the quarters that same day, stil bloodied and wounded.
"Sense of Duty... It has a nice sound to it does it not? Seems to roll off the tongue... But that is all there is to it - a nice sound"
-------------------------------------------
Travelling with Lucian, instead of fighting alongside him proved to be a totally different experience for Reknar - he found him to be extremely knowlegeable, and much more than a combat indoctrined wizard. He found pleasure in the next year they spent together, travelling for the simple sake of it, without apparent direction, from one land to the other, taking in the differences, sustained by odd mercenary jobs.
Surprisingly enough, his companion proved to be much more of an idealist than Reknar had perceived - "Not usual to find such big words coming from the mouth of a wizard - I always thought you all vied for absolute power and whatnot" - talks of absolute power usually brought laughs from both of them, and the ensuing discussions surrounding the will and principles of man would usually trail off into the night, around their makeshift fireplaces.
After many months of wandering, Lucian presented his will to return to his homeland, and his wizard apprenticeship - Reknar acquiesced and accompanied him. He had been away from civilization for some time now, and the myriad sights and sounds invaded his mind with the strength of a punch - "Aaaah, I missed this Lucian, I gotta admit it" - As they walked through the city, having been dettached from the main comercial circuits, there was much to catch up, but word of the teeming Stolen Lands came up a little everywhere - opportunities, riches, adventure, exotic cultures - were all words associated with it.
He remained with Lucian as a guest for long, but after some time he became much more than that - coming in contact with the metropolis had a defining impact on the man - in spite of Lucian having pointed it out more than once to him, he had always dismissed it with a shrug, but in fact he realized that gobbling up information came naturally to him - for the first time in almost 8 years, he put his sword away and picked up something else - a book.
He found renewed motivation in pouring through the tomes his friend brought for him. He found that knowledge was neutral, it did not choose sides, neither Good nor Evil, it was unadaunted by askew visions of men - it was objective, much like himself. He found pleasure in losing himself into it.
Reknars' outlook on life did not change though - all he had been through had shaped him into a cold, callous man, unbelieving in higher principles or goals - but it did change his insights about those many years he had spent fighting - namely the fact that there are many alternatives to simply drawing blood - concepts like strategy, tactics, and combat logic coallesced from mere vague ideas into true knowledge, and he embraced them, his brain more avid for such knowledge than he had ever expected. While staying as Lucian guest, he poured through his library and gravitated more and more towards a different approach to warfare. He had to shed many of what he had learned before while in the army, and he came to realize that, in fact, being constantly pushed to the lower ranks, made for the sad result that he really hadn't learned that much about warfare, or even combat - he had been consistently in the brunt of it, which allowed him to understand what it is to share hardship with others, but as far as being a combatant, it really taught him nothing more than how to draw a sword and swing it.
Letting go of the basic logics that a grunt is indoctrinated to in the ranks of any army, he re-learned by himself, though his cynic view of life remained, perspectives not changing on the higher purposes that one may try to find for life - in that aspect he is still quite the hostage of his fathers' repeated words - "Hard work"
He soaked in what the huge city, and his own friend had to offer. At the back of his head however, he longed to bring his newfound self into play for something different. He had to admit it, he missed the warfare, the companionship that can only be derived from sharing extreme conditions... And his mind and body were becoming restless, he found himself reminiscing on the times when he had his soldiers around, looking to him to leadership, and decisive action. Without a second thought, he shared this with Lucian, and his friend replied with a request - that this time he would try to make a difference, instead of simply fighting for the fight itself - "You will find it to be more rewarding than you could have ever imagined" - he would say.
Ever cynical, and with a laugh, Reknar reluctantly acquiesced and decided to travel to where supposedly, opportunities abound, even if it is to make a difference - the Stolen Lands - "I doubt there is really a difference to be made Lucian, but at least who knows if I will be able to return filthy RICH! And add some to that poor excuse of sad room you call a library!" - were his parting words as he hit the road.
Arriving just a couple of months ago, he has taken up many odd jobs, everything from bouncer to bodyguard, or kitchen help. By now he has managed to gather a few gold pieces in his pocket, and supplies in his backpack to be able to stand on his own again - "Time to go looking for some trouble I guess"

Looking forward to this one. I'll get started on my submission shortly. 20 point buy and no dump stats is going to be really rough, but hopefully I'll manage... Going to be nearly impossible to avoid any dumpstats with 20 in charisma though.
What do you think of stacking metamagic master with metamagic lineage? It's kinda overloading on flavor, but it'll enable my character much better mechanically. I also really want to pick bastard for the roleplay aspect though...

I clarified the wording. Dumpstats are allowed, but completely mentally of physically deficient characters probably won't fit.
I believe metamagic master and metamagic lineage stack.

I chose the subdomain of freedom. Reading the text more carefully, it actually seems a bit strong, as it would allow 10 saving throws for almost any ongoing spell. They have to be able to take an action, so no relief from sleep, but almost anything else. What are your thoughts about it? It is PFS legal and available to Desna according to Inner Sea Gods. Archives of Nethys for some reason does not list it for Desna.

Just to be completely sure, we would be starting at level 1?
Edit: Also, are the 'kingdom roles' in the Kingmaker Player's Guide or somewhere else?
The various kingdom roles were originally described in book 2 of the AP. A later, updated version of the kingdom roles/building rules were published in Ultimate Campaign.
Ruler: The ruler is the primary leader of the kingdom. Unlike the other leadership roles, a ruler uses one of three distinct titles, depending on the current size of the kingdom. For a kingdom of size 1–20, its ruler is known as a baron or baroness. For a kingdom of size 21–80, its ruler is known as a duke or duchess. A kingdom of size 81 or higher is ruled by a king or queen.
Benefit: A baron or baroness chooses one of a nation’s statistics (Economy, Loyalty, or Stability) and modifies that score by a value equal to the character’s Charisma modifier. A duke or duchess chooses two of these values to modify. A king or queen modifies all three values.
Vacancy Penalty: A kingdom without a ruler cannot claim new hexes, create farmlands, build roads, or purchase city districts. Increase Unrest by 4 during each Upkeep phase in which the kingdom has no ruler.
Special: Two characters can fill this role if they become married, in which case the two rulers can jointly command the kingdom. Both rulers apply their Charisma modifiers to the kingdom’s Stability, Economy, and Loyalty checks as appropriate for their rank, and as long as one of the two rulers is present for 1 week per month, they avoid the vacancy penalty.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Councilor:The councilor ensures that the will of the citizenry is represented.
Benefit: Increase Loyalty by a value equal to the Councilor’s Wisdom or Charisma modifier.
Vacancy Penalty: Decrease Loyalty by 2; the kingdom cannot gain benefits from festivals. Increase Unrest by 1 during each Upkeep phase in which the kingdom has no Councilor.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
General:The General commands the kingdom’s armies and is a public hero.
Benefit: Increase Stability by a value equal to the General’s Strength or Charisma modifier.
Vacancy Penalty: Decrease Stability by 4.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Grand Diplomat:The Grand Diplomat oversees international relations.
Benefit: Increase Stability by a value equal to the Grand Diplomat’s Intelligence or Charisma modifier.
Vacancy Penalty: Decrease Stability by 2; the kingdom cannot issue Promotion Edicts.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
High Priest: The high priest guides the kingdom’s religious needs and growth.
Benefit: Increase Stability by a value equal to the High Priest’s Wisdom or Charisma modifier.
Vacancy Penalty: Decrease Stability and Loyalty by 2. Increase Unrest by 1 during each Upkeep phase in which the kingdom has no High Priest.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Magister: The Magister guides a kingdom’s higher learning and magic.
Benefit: Increase Economy by a value equal to the Magister’s Intelligence or Charisma modifier.
Vacancy Penalty: Decrease Economy by 4.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Marshal: The Marshal helps organize patrols and enforces justice in rural and wilderness regions.
Benefit: Increase Economy by a value equal to the Marshal’s Dexterity or Wisdom modifier.
Vacancy Penalty: Decrease Economy by 4.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Royal Assassin: The Royal Assassin can serve as a public executioner, a headsman, or a shadowy assassin.
Benefit: Increase Loyalty by a value equal to the Royal Assassin’s
Strength or Dexterity modifier. Fear inspired by the Royal Assassin reduces Unrest by 1 during each Upkeep phase.
Vacancy Penalty: A kingdom without a Royal Assassin suffers no vacancy penalty.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Spymaster: The Spymaster observes the kingdom’s underworld and criminal elements and spies on other kingdoms.
Benefit: Increase Loyalty, Economy, or Stability (Spymaster’s choice) by a value equal to the Spymaster’s Dexterity or Intelligence modifier. The Spymaster can change which value he modifies during the kingdom’s Improvement phase (but only once per phase).
Vacancy Penalty: Reduce Economy by 4 because of out-of-control crime. Increase Unrest by 1 during each Upkeep phase in which the kingdom has no Spymaster.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Treasurer: The Treasurer organizes tax collection, and manages the treasury.
Benefit: Increase Economy by a value equal to the Treasurer’s Intelligence or Wisdom modifier.
Vacancy Penalty: Reduce Economy by 4; the kingdom cannot collect taxes.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Warden: The Warden leads the kingdom’s defense and city guards.
Benefit: Increase Loyalty by a value equal to the Warden’s Strength or Constitution modifier.
Vacancy Penalty: Reduce Loyalty by 4 and Stability by 2.

I would recommend like maybe a week for recruitment given how many people are already lurking and waiting for this to post up. I imagine he is gonna have no lack of characters to choose from so there shouldn't be much need for a long recruitment as well he's had sorta a long recruitment in a manner ^^

The submission window will be a week. More here hopefully in a bit.
Here's the (currently read only) version of the Submission Roster. Does anyone see anything obviously wrong with it before I open the flood gates?

You have offensive as a role, I think that is kinda too broad and would include nearly everyone. Maybe split it into damage and control. Though I guess some forms of control will effectively take the opposition out of a fight anyway. The same could be said for skills. My oracle will be a pretty good party face, but certainly not a skillmonkey. Though I guess that counts as partial for skills right? Also I would include alignment.

The submission window will be a week. More here hopefully in a bit.
Here's the (currently read only) version of the Submission Roster. Does anyone see anything obviously wrong with it before I open the flood gates?
Do you care about alignment choices enough to put it on the submission roster?

The official Recruitment Thread is live!
The past month has been exceptionally busy for me in both gaming and the mundane world, but the amount of enthusiasm and number of responses this thread has generated have far surpassed my wildest expectations. I look forward to seeing everyone's submissions!
Thanks to everyone that's contributed, even if it's just been asking questions. It's helped hopefully make the actual recruitment process smoother.

I agree to some extent that the combat roles don't totally mesh for me. Perhaps just a larger, "Combat Role" field that can be filled out as appropriate for the character?
I created a "combat role" and a "non-combat role" column. We'll see how that goes. I've had some issues with subjectively fillable fields like that in the past, if it gets out of hand I'll tweak it somehow.

The subdomain listings are a new feature on the Archives and nothing outside of the subdomains listed in Occult Origins have been updated yet. That should be resolved sometime this week. :)
