Monk Double-chain Kama trip build

Advice

So, I am creating a Double-chain Kama trip build, and I am looking at going with Monk (it's a gestalt character so it will be Monk//Empyreal Sorceror).

The question is, which Monk should I use? As I understand it, Double-chain Kama is a reach weapon and a Monk weapon, so I can use it at reach with FoB. I plan to get Enlarge person as one of my spells, so it will give me up to 20' reach at first level.

But Maneuver Master doesn't get FoB, and Flurry of Maneuvers seems sub-par for a trip build. I considered Master of Many styles, but he doesn't even get FoB. I even considered Warpriest (Sacred Fist), but they don't get full BAB.

So is there an archetype that would be perfect for a trip build? Or should I just go with vanilla Monk or even Monk (unchained))? or something else?

Unchained Monk. You will get 1.5 STR damage on your flurry when attacking for damage, free proficiency, more HP, and full BAB. You can also use the leg sweep style strike for a free trip attempt.

That's what I was thinking - although I hadn't spotted the 1.5STR damage. There also appears to be no penalty for flurry with unchained. The leg style sweep is also nice, but I hope that it would be unnecessary as I will be locking down opponents at 20' or more.

So Unchained Monk it is, assuming the GM allows it. If he does not, what should I pick?

How about Flowing Monk? Anyone got any idea how that rates?

Having a retired flowing monk with double chained kama in PFS, I can say that it is pretty awesome, especially when you can start tripping and sickening people who attack your allies. With reach means you can keep enemies at bay and make sure they focus you.

What really worked for me as well was that my GF was playing a ninja and I took ki throw and vicious stomp. That meant if I got next to some one, I would throw them behind me, make them flat-footed with my stomp, and she would gleefully stab them to death.

Actually, your Unchained Monk can use the Leg Sweep strike with your kama if you also take Ascetic Style from the recently-released Weapon Master's Handbook. This will give you a free trip attempt with your kama if any of the attacks in your flurry hit.

Personally though, I would use the Spin Kick strike to trip instead. This allows you to target your opponent's flat-footed CMD, making the trip much more likely to succeed.
