Sohei Feat Qualification

Rules Questions

So for regular monk bonus feats:

Bonus Feat

At 1st level, 2nd level, and every 4 levels thereafter, a monk may select a bonus feat. These feats must be taken from the following list:

Catch Off-Guard, Combat Reflexes, Deflect Arrows, Dodge, Improved Grapple, Scorpion Style, and Throw Anything.

At 6th level, the following feats are added to the list:

Gorgon's Fist, Improved Bull Rush, Improved Disarm, Improved Feint, Improved Trip, and Mobility.

At 10th level, the following feats are added to the list:

Improved Critical, Medusa's Wrath, Snatch Arrows, and Spring Attack.

A monk need not have any of the prerequisites normally required for these feats to select them.

For Sohei bonus feats:

Bonus Feats

A sohei may select Mounted Combat feats as bonus feats.

Does this alter or replace regular Monk bonus feats? Does it allow a Sohei to pick up any mounted combat feat without prereqs, in place of a monk feat? Obviously, it shouldn't, but is there something I'm missing?

Scarab Sages

Yes. RAW, A sohei can take mounted skirmisher at first level.

I'm not familiar with mounted feats, but just make sure to double-check with your GM before starting. It'll save a lot of trouble later on if it ends up looking cheesy.

This is a pseudo-pounce at level 1. All you need is a horse.

Monks with good things? Blasphemy. Still, this does seem too powerful for one level dip of Monk.

I think it would be fine if they specified it only being at 6th or 10th level.
