So here are my bits and pieces for the ruling. From the mounted combat rules:
"For simplicity, assume that you share your mount's space during combat."
Then I'm looking at the Huge (long) reach diagram over here as the closest analog, as well as the the medium/small reach diagram my halfling cavalier would normally have.
I assume I can't "repel borders" with a reach weapon, meaning I can't attack adjacent (feels wrong from a cinematic standpoint, but that's pretty clearly the rules). I also assume I count the whole mount as my space, meaning I've bot a big ol' "10 ft. circle of reach" around my trusty steed. My biggest question is whether you "snip the corners" on that reach diagram, or go with the solid square of reach similar to the Huge (long) diagram linked above.
How would you play it?

I'd just like to point out that the diagram you linked is no longer accurate with regards to a medium creature wielding a reach weapon. You now threaten the 15' diagonal making a solid square around you.

Oh, neat! I believe you and stuff, but I am curious where that info came in. Do you have a link to the discussion?

FAQ found HERE
10-Foot Reach and Diagonals: I’m confused about reach and diagonals. I heard somewhere online that you don’t threaten the second diagonal with a 10-foot reach but that you somehow get an attack of opportunity when opponents move out of that square, but the Rules Reference Cards show that you do threaten the second diagonal. Which one is correct?
The cards are correct. As an exception to the way that diagonals normally work, a creature with 10 feet of reach threatens the second diagonal. These changes will be reflected in the next errata.
And HERE you can find the rule card paizo posted that forced the FAQ (funny how Paizo only posted pictures of two of the cards and one of them needed a faq/errata so it matched the book).
