Halfling Sling Master and Spell-less Ranger. Combined possiable?

Advice

Hey there Pazio forum.

I am currently playing a Warhammer Fantasy campaign, and we are trying to convert old characters from warhammer second edition into the pathfinder system. So faar with great succuess.

I got this old Halfling character who was very focused on the use of a sling, with sword and buckler as backup melee. Field Warden the class was called and it was this sort of "Scout/ranger" ranged hobbit type who are VERY much alike to Halfling Sling Master also lore wise, beside the detail of magic. I am unsure and so is my GM if it was only in Warhammre Second edition roleplaying game that halflings was unable to use magic, but we don't have a 100% clear go go on that. So we liked to make the spells "Just lucky momments or tricks of a proffesional" aka. Work as magic game wise/Mechanic but ingame not magic at all.

But then I wondered, is it possiable to combine spell-less ranger with Halfling Sling Master? Trade som Ranger feats/Combat style for magic? I like to keep the slingtricks + sling bonuses along with stealth. Stat wise and ability wise Halfling Sling Master is spot on beside the magic, which we can work around with in character explainations.
And chooseing some of the more toned down ranger spells.

But do you guys see a balanced way of mixing the two to make a non magic user Halfling Sling Master?

Animal companions + wild empathy and the more wild aspects don't sit too well with my character either. Is so why Halfling Sling Master fit the best so faar, beside the magic :)

We switched spellcraft into knowlegde necromancy since Field Wardens are known to hunt down undeads who enter the borders of the moot + a bagground story with slaying a elven necromancer. So favored target would ofcourse be undead :)

Take a look at the Skirmisher ranger archetype - lots of useful ability options that replace spells entirely.

There's also the Trapper ranger archetype and a spell-less ranger variant for 3.5.

Can you combine Trapper or Skirmisher with Halfling Sling Master? And would it be succesfull?

Though of switching enchanted bullet out with bonus feat.

Those Skirmisher + Trapper replace the skill spellcraft or only spells/spell abilities?

Those two archetypes only replace spells, not the skill Spellcraft. But I think you're fine just swapping it out for another skill like you mentioned.

I think you could combine either of those archetypes with Halfling Sling Master successfully, just by losing the ability to cast spells and gaining the abilities of the archetype. And I think it would balance fairly well - the Halfling Sling Master's spell progression is very similar to the rangers. It gets a few less spells per day, so it's not losing quite as much, but trapper and skirmisher rangers tend not to be quite as strong as normal rangers anyway, so I think it evens out in the end. You never know unless you try.

I have no idea what Enchanted Bullet would be worth if you swapped it out - I'm not sure what to compare it to.

Where do you get this 'Halfling Sling-Master" class from? Can you provide a link or source of a book? If it's third-party, all I can tell you is that as long as neither archetype replaces the same sort of ability of a base ranger, they would stack together.

In addition, you mentioned above replacing Spellcraft "Knowledge: Necromancy", which in Pathfinder would instead be Knowledge: Religion (for undead) or Knowledge: Arcana (for spells), as there is no Knowledge: Necromancy in PF.

The Halfling Sling Master is a third-party class, and it's not directly connected to ranger. I think Greenfeuer is just trying to find a homebrew method of altering the class so that it trades out spells and remains relatively balanced.

Here it is. It replaces magic to be casted with CHA, but that doesn't really matter since magic is removed again. But they would seemse to stack yes :)

I just write knowlegde religion (Necromancy) - Its cool with my GM atleast that part. :)

Avoron said it :)

Question is too if its worth putting more than 12 in wisdom, with skirmish or if its faar better to keeo this setup.

So faar my build is.

If more focused on getting strenght to 14. I prefer this one so faar due to sling + melee damge.

25 points each.

Str 13
Dex 18
Con 14
Int 12
Wis 12
Cha 14

If more fosued on wis. - But at the cost of int and strenght + 1 at level 8.

Str 12
Dex 18
Con 14
Int 10
Wis 14
Cha 14
