Quick question about the Eldritch Archer

Rules Questions

What can you cast through Ranged Spellstrike? It says "ranged attack", but does that mean anything ranged that requires an attack roll, or anything ranged that would qualify as breaking invisibility?

I ask because it talks about spells that create missiles and, of course, my first thought was Magic Missile, but that doesn't require an attack roll. But then the Focusing Spellstrike specifically allows cones and lines, which would mean that the second definition wouldn't be accurate since a Cone of Cold or Lightning Bolt would break invisibility.

I'm not seeing a lot of spells that specifically mention a ranged attack or ranged touch attack in the description... at least not compared with magus spells that are touch ranged...

The Exchange

If you are rolling a d20 to hit a ranged attack spell it is covered by this ability.

An example of a missile is Acid Splash which says: Effect one missile of acid.

Scorching Ray is an example of a ray spell which works with the ability. You can add one ray per attack roll you make.

Dark Archive

I'm pretty sure that it means anything that requires a ranged attack roll. The higher level ability allows you to turn any cone or line shaped spell into a ray, and rays require a ranged attack roll. There aren't a lot of spells that specifically mention a ranged attack, if you want your shocking grasp then check out snowball it will function exactly the same as shocking grasp except cold damage and have a stagger chance instead of to hit bonus vs certain enemies. Your concern is understandable, and if you want to use those touch attack spells, they thought of that and included reach spellstrike as an arcana for those that would like a larger range of spells.

Ya, I was worried about that.

Using a spreadsheet I downloaded from here and filtering it so it only includes Magus Spells that have "Ranged Touch Attack" or "Ranged Attack" in the description, I get 27 spells. Some of those are false results (such as Fireball or Illusion of Calm).

I just noticed that they've updated the spreadsheet to include a couple more resources, so it _may_ be more than 27 spells now :). But still... :(

Okay, thanks anyway!
