Dipping into Oracle

Advice

Small teeny tiny question, I know usually dipping into a full casting class is generally a no no but ignore that for a moment. Which revelations with Oracle are good to dip into to? i have no build idea right now other than the rest will be investigator or something and the character will be mainly intelligence and wisdom focused. i'm mainly doing to his for the lame curse as i am making a character based off of Dr. Greg house.

I don't really have any ideas after that.

For this character, the Lore mystery seems like a good choice. The Think On it and Focused Trance mysteries shouldn't be affected by low Oracle level, and will help you be the ultimate know-it-all.

Lore and Nature mysterys allow you to use CHA instead of DEX for your armor.

So classes that have a decent to good CHA anyway can then dump DEX completly. (Bard, Paladin, melee Sorc, CHA-Magus,...)

Dipping out of a full caster is usually a bad thing. But dipping into one can be quite potent, and especially so for the Oracle class.

oooohhhh, i didnt know that there was a difference thanks for clearing that up VRMH.

I should add that this characters charisma probably wont be higher than 14.

his wisdom and intelligence are going to be his best stats, with whatever his fighting stat ends up as close by.

The character is still a doctor much like who he is based off of, right down to the addiction (his being drinking blood) .

the character is a skin walker specifically blood-marked.

my original idea's were for the main class: alchemist, witch, investigator (in reference to House being base off Sherlock holmes). although i like the idea of investigator, specifically the studied strike thing they can do, it gives really cool imagery in my opinion. that being said i am completely open to any ideas that could work with my theme / who i am trying to emulate.

i have no official stat build quite yet but safely assume 20 point buy.

For a single level dip, I would also recommend the Waves mystery for the Water Sight revelation.

Then go for an archer Rogue or use reach weapons inside Obscuring Mist to land your sneak attacks reliably. :)
You might also want to consider the Slayer with Accomplished Sneak Attacker for better accuracy (this class has full BAB and a couple of ways to get extra combat feats which the Rogue does not - aside from the Combat Trick and Feat talents).

So Should i only take a 1 level dip? or 2? i am assuming 3 would be to much

The Slayer, Waves build seems interesting Btw.

The biggest reason to dip is for the revelations. You get revelations at level 1 and 5, and 3 if you're dual-cursed.

Are you Recommending i take dual cursed?

I really like this archetype but mostly for Misfortune rather than anything else.
I would still stay with a 1 level dip because 3 would be a bit much and 2 doesn't give you more than 1.

So could a similar build work with gunslinger?

I don't see why not. :)

good... good... the gears in my head have begun turning....
Should i go full gunslinger, or is there a recommended level to stop? i figure since i'm multi-classing anyway to be open to not going all in. at this point it would probably be best to stay in full BAB classes to minimalize the loss of BAB

Gunslinger stops at level 5, when you get dexterity to damage with guns or crossbows (Bolt Ace). The increased level of deeds is nice, but not necessary.

Shadow Lodge

Just thought I'd add that if you're dipping for the revelations, you dip 1 level and then use the feat "Extra Revelations" to gain more. That is of course if you're not feat deprived.

thats actually what i usually do to get more revelations if i see more i think could help, although with ranged builds mine being pistols im pretty sure feats will be burned

Btw here are the official stats

strength- 7
dexterity-16
constitution-11 (level 4 bonus to make 12)
intelligence-16
wisdom-16
charisma- 11(since i only plan on the 1 level dip and 11 puts me at minimum casting level)
