So, any time a Kingmaker game pops up anywhere, it gets filled up quickly. Everyone wants to play it, and very few GMs seem to want to run it. And that's perfectly understandable; it's a difficult AP to run well. I should know, I've tried doing it, myself, twice. First time player burnout ended it early, the second time I had real life issues drag me away. The same issues that plague any PbP game seem to be a death knell for all but the rarest few Kingmaker games.
So I'm looking for one of those rare games. More specifically, I'm looking for a group that can genuinely commit to playing for the several YEARS it will take to get through the AP.
More importantly, though, is the GM. Kingmaker is so rules-dense that it lands on the GM to spice things up and deliver good flavor. It also takes a good amount of prep work to get right. Not to mention the commitment to keep going for years, same as players.
I'm looking for a GM that fits this profile, and a group of players to match. I beg that we stay away from PoW and SoP, but gestalt could be fun (though it means more behind the scenes work for the GM).
Is there anyone out there who thinks they have what it takes, AND has the dedication to keep going through the end?

Jumping from another thread.
Yes, lots of interest and dying games. Seems like one of the ones that got started a few months ago is on hold, and others that were seeking didn't start at all. There's lot of players patiently hanging around in the thread hoping for someone to pick the GM task.
So, I'm still interested in Kingmaker as a player, and at least I have patience for hanging around in recruitment for months.

I might be interested, assuming that people are fine with a few home rules and a few heavily altered encounters in the story. Some of the encounters just felt like filler to me (Random group of generic bandits, for example!), so I am altering them to make them more than just EXP grabs. I had expanded the kingdom-building rules in my home campaign to better accommodate cool, flavorful ideas, so expect there to be a few additional things that you can do.
To those looking at my posting history and wondering what went on, I had the unfortunate distinction of getting in a bad wreck a while back, which caused some issues that I have only recently got over. I'm sure that you can find a full summary of it in my campaigns, either posts from me or from my friends, who themselves gave up on Pathfinder and other time-consuming hobbies soon after to deal with real-life problems (They were in the wreck as well,).
HOWEVER, I am definitely a person who looks at campaigns as a long-term commitment. I mean click on the recruitment tab under the campaigns messageboards and look at the sticky recruitment at the top. I made that because I wanted to not only make it easier for my recruitment of PCs, but also for the people on the messageboards that I had been steadily befriending. I am serious about my gaming and, were it not for unfortunate circumstances, my last batch of games would have lasted until completion.

That sounds great, actually. I agree that some of the encounters were fairly bland.
I look forward to the recruitment thread. Though as Castor said, any chance for a sneak peek?

Personally, I'm considering an elven Eldritch Archer magus.
Not quite sure how I'd adapt it if this goes gestalt though. Maybe with slayer, Unchained Rogue, or something like that. Path of War synergizes badly with magus, even though I like it a whole lot. Maybe Hawkguard Warder//Wizard could work out?

Gestalt could be fun, though regular would be great too. I'm fine with either.
Not sure what I'd stick on Castor for Gestalt, heh. Possibly a Druid, Ranger, or Rogue.
Oh, a question before I forget: Divinitus, are you fine with the Evangelist prestige class?
If Gestalt, I would probably instead go for the Spherewalker, but in single class progression, I just can't get behind it.

I built Iavas for the previous recruitment, and will try her again here. Plan is cleric/rogue/evangelist(rogue), it is not optimal but shouldn't be too far behind. With gestalt she is much stronger with full cleric on one side and rogue+evangelist on the other.
Everything sounds fine so far. Nothing wrong with some sensible house rules, and I wouldn't know if the encounters are modified.

Really hope I could get into this. Not only does Kingmaker look soo awesome, but I really REALLY like the idea of being part of a long-time RP that has so many awesome stories!
House-Rules just make it even more interest! Doubly so if Gestalt is up (which just opens up so many fun character possibilities!). Wouldn't mind 3rd party like DSP being allowed either. But just Gestalt alone should be fun!
... Wonder if I'll be able to use VMC effectively...

Admittedly, I've never been a huge fan of gestalt, but recently I've come around to the idea. Still think I'd only go for one that starts at low level, like an AP.
We shall see what Divinitus decides.
The suspense is killing me.
Edit: To be honest, I kinda really like the thought of going gestalt for this one. That said, I will be ecstatic to play, either way.

About ready to post. I was just playtesting a few things, including the first encounter. It runs smooth for everything but an all-D4 HD party. That encounter was a wipe, because, let's just face it, D4's are squishy and need to hide behind someone that DOESN'T have a glass jaw, at least in the beginning, assuming that they are not abjurers who can buff to 30+ AC at level 1 like I have seen some PCs do. I do hope that we at least have one 'beefy' character applying, because the way I design encounters is around the 'fantastic 4' (Tank, sneak, healer, ranged damage), plus one or two additional characters (Which I use hybrid classes to represent in playtesting).
Those who have played or ran the last two books, you are in for some surprises, some of which may prove quite pleasant in retrospect to the runs that you did. I corrected the 'big issues' in those books. If you know what I'm talking about, then you should be relieved. If not, then just consider yourself lucky that I didn't decide to go the lazy route! :)

Haha, glad I'm not the only one obsessively checking on this! Not sure about the rest of you but I'm EST, and Divinitus hass posted either very late or very early based on my time zone, so it's likely we may not hear from them for a few hours yet.
Note:the above logic will not prevent me from continuing to press refresh at regular intervals.
