Brewing potions as an alchemist.....

Rules Questions

So am i Reading this right? I can brew a potion DC 5 + spell level Cool, i'm an alchemist that's a breeze, Price is one half of level of the spell × the creator's caster level × 50 gp

I'm level 3.... if i'm making a potion of cure light, that's 75gp? WTH? Not for a level 2 potion of cure light, just a basic spell level 1 potion of cure light and it's MORE expensive because of my caster level? WTH is going on here? That makes no sense.

Starfinder Superscriber

Your potion would heal 1d8+3 instead of 1d8+1 as you're third level. You could make it as a 50 gp potion but then it's just a 1d8+1.

where does it say you can brew a potion at a lower caster level? I'm working off the website right now (books at a friends house) and it doesn't say you can do that anywhere.

Sovereign Court

Any craft may be crafted at a lower caster level as long as it still is at least the minimum caster level to cast the spell.

It's in the core rule book.

The DC is based on the caster level of the potion, not spell level.

You need to read better then. It is in the section detailing magical item creation. Third paragraph.

Quote:
While item creation costs are handled in detail below, note that normally the two primary factors are the caster level of the creator and the level of the spell or spells put into the item. A creator can create an item at a lower caster level than her own, but never lower than the minimum level needed to cast the needed spell. Using metamagic feats, a caster can place spells in items at a higher level than normal.
