Crafting a Sacred Huntsmaster

Advice

So I’m new to Pathfinder and I have a somewhat odd hobby (at least it seems that way to me), crafting characters and builds. I’ve been looking at making a Sacred Huntsmaster that utilizes a Two-Hander and teamwork feats to make him and his animal companion a dynamic duo of death (or at the very least two competent schmucks who don’t die often). The problem is that, as I have stated above, I am rather new to the game and need some help coming up with this character. To clarify I was thinking about going human, but I am rather flexible with what I am. Any help would be appreciated.

Bump.

How new are you? Have you done PF theorycraft before? Did you do 3.5 theorycraft?

Honestly, I've played some 5E D&D and some homebrew stuff, but I am really new to this. The hobby's been around for a while, but besides some crpg's I do not have any experience in Pathfinder or 3.5E (although I would certainly like to if I can find a game that coincides well with my schedule). I have been pouring over various guides and builds for different characters (I've got roughly twelve I would like to eventually try out) but I've yet to get really acquainted with all of the feats and the traits.

Also, what is PF theorycraft?

It's Pathfinder theoretical character creation.

5E is awesome. Pathfinder and 3.5E have a boatload of material to sift through, but if you dig through all of it, you can build some pretty cool and diverse character concepts.

Sacred Huntsmaster is basically an Inquisitor/Hunter hybrid. I'd build it as you would build a Hunter character. Teamwork feats will be your big deal, because you and your pet share them. You can find a bunch here.

Since you're going melee, you probably want a high STR. CON will be useful as a tertiary stat, since you only have a d8 hit die. WIS is likely your second most important stat, as it determines your number of spells per day, your spell save DC, your initiative (Inquisitors add WIS to initiative), and many of your skill checks (Inquisitors add WIS to some skill checks). WIS also helps your weak save, your Will/Wisdom save (Non-proficient save, in 5E terms).

As a melee two-hander fighter, you want the Power Attack feat. For teamwork feats, there's a particularly nasty combo with Combat Reflexes, Outflank, and Seize the Moment, where if either you or your pet critically hits, the other of you can make an attack of opportunity, twice.

It sounds like what you need are some examples:

That is what I assumed, which means that I will probably want to have a 13 in Int so I can get combat expertise if I want to take advantage of such things as Pack Flanking, right?

Danke shun!

Any tips when it comes to animal companions? I have never played as a class with a companion or familiar.
