Are the items that are picked in RPG SS made into actual items by the designers?

Yes, the recent trend has been to include Top 32 items among the bonus material published in the winning module. For example, Victoria Jaczko's Daughters of Fury included items designed by the other Top 32 from RPGSS 2014.

I will stress that we don't necessarily use every one of the top 32 items. However, I believe it benefits the contest, the contestants, and Pathfinder as a whole to publish many of them. It's also worth noting that we've published at least one RPG Superstar monster (Kalervo's dread glutton in Occult Bestiary) and picked up one of the encounters and spun it into a Pathfinder Society Scenario (Tom Phillips's Hall of the Flesh Eaters).
A key take-away is that one need not win the contest—or even be in the top 4—in order to benefit from the experience and begin writing for Paizo or any other publisher.
One item (Goblin Skull Bomb) also got published as a Pathfinder ACG card.
In 2014, the winning adventure (Daughters of Fury) included 4 RPGSS monsters and many of the Top 32 magic items. I believe it included at least 1 piece of content from each of the top 32.
I will also point out that by including items from each of the Top 32, it affords them each a publication credit with Paizo and when a person has three of those, they are no longer eligible to compete in RPG SS.

Let's not forget the smattering of items incorporated into Ultimate Equipment!

There's an item in this year's top 32 that would be perfect for a particular future product. Maybe I should discuss it with the dev.
Anyway, John, if run out of ideas for PFS scenarios (not likely to happen), I'd be happy to write a scenario called Return to the House of the Serpent's Hand. ;)

And while working for Paizo for a product is salivation worthy glittery prizes. THIS is really the awesome that people do this for, recognition and a possible opportunity!

Guess I missed that one. Which monster was that, exactly, and which year is it from? Kalervo Oikarinen's dread glutton (renamed fear eater). John Compton actually mentioned it upthread.
