Summon Guardian Spirit and the Guardian Spirit template.

Rules Questions

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

The template states: “Guardian spirit” is an acquired template that can be added to any fey or outsider that qualifies to become a familiar through the Improved Familiar feat (this template does not make it a familiar, however).

The feat states: Select one creature that qualifies to be an improved familiar, and apply the guardian spirit template (see below) to it.

Question: Does the creature selected for the feat then have to be a fey or outsider (and thus not a dragon/magical beast/etc) to qualify for the template, or does the feat allow you to apply the template to a creature to which it otherwise could not be applied?

The about-1-month bump

Could you post links to the rules you are asking about?

I used the exact text, but I don't think I can legally link the feat and template until/unless the Summoner's Handbook falls under the OGL/PRD.

Not to say that they can't be found on various websites...

Also, since it's the same creature being summoned each time, do its uses of limited use SLAs during one summon count against its uses if it's summoned again later the same day?

Yes. Same for 1/week stuff.

To my knowledge, all rules text published as Pathfinder Compatible mark have to be published under the OGL.

Scarab Sages

I still think that the feat is just adding one creature at one level of summons that stays for minutes instead of rounds and otherwise should work as the summon spell that you still cast to activate it.
