Homebrewed MAD Unchained Monk solution

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Seeing the new Monk I thought it was great the improvements they made allowing them to branch out within the original class was what it needed. Yes it lost an extra attack on Flurry and the Will took a hit too but I liked it. Until......it came to making a character I was still concerned with how MAD the unchained monk was. Him being melee CON, STR, DEX were important and with the Monk using WIS for nearly all of it's skills it needed to be there as well.

So in my Campaign I came up with solutions borrowed from the soulknife, Ki powers called:

Intuitive Offense (Ex)

As long as the Monk has 1 Ki point in his Ki pool, he adds his Wisdom modifier to his attack and damage rolls instead of his Strength modifier.

Intuitive Defense (Ex)

When fighting defensively or using Combat Expertise or the total defense action, the Monk adds his Wisdom modifier as a dodge bonus to his AC so long as he has 1 Ki point in his Ki pool.

it's worked great allowing the Monk to have nearly the same armor as a Fighter at the same level (lvl 6 now) but based on Dodge and AC bonus. Being how the Monk now doesn't need to worry about STR. too much (carrying capacity) it allowed him to be on par with other melee characters who need only focus on 2 or 3 ability scores.
