alchemist tumor familar with poisoners glove and infusion

Pathfinder Society

Hi Folks,

i hope im right here.

So a mate is planning to build an Alchemist with a Tumor familiar.
He wants to give the familiar an "extra Magic item Slot(Hands)" and let him use poisoners gloves. then put infusions in the gloves and have the familiar "attack" him with the gloves, so he gets buffed by the Infusion without having to use his own Actions. i read the additional resources section and the only restriction i found was this:

"*Note: The Animal Magic Item Slots table found on the inside front cover of the book is not legal except under the following conditions. First, an animal companion, familiar, or bonded mount, may choose one slot listed under its body type when taking the Extra Item Slot feat (this feat may be taken multiple times, each time selecting a different available magic item slot based on the creature's anatomy). Second, access to specific magic item slots may be granted at a later date by another legal source."

i dont really understand that (sorry im not a native Speaker).
can somebody explain if the build works, is pfs legal, and what this restriction means?

thx already!

What type of body does the tumor familiar have? It refers to its' basic shape, humanoid, beastial etc...

As far as I know, the Tumor Familiar is limited to being an appropriate familiar type, none of which have hands to give the feat to.

The restriction itself says that the body must be appropriate to the slot being given to it, so Extra Hands requires the animal to have hands not hooves, claws, etc...

Short answer: no, doesn't look legal to me.

Monkey?

From my reading, I don't think it's PFS legal:

It is intended that animal companions or familiars can not activate magic items.

Familair FAQ

The familiar can equip a magic item with the Extra Magic Item Slot feat, but it still can't activate the Gloves. So basically you can only use continuous magic items.

I think this works. The gloves aren't activated by the monkey. The alchemist loads the gloves then gives them to the monkey to wear. The monkey then delivers the infusions from the gloves by touch attack, per the item description. I don't see that as the familiar activating anything.

Grand Lodge 5/5

Delivering a touch attack is activating them. Just striking someone doesn't work as a touch attack.

Familiars can deliver touch attacks..it isn't doing anything it wouldn't normally do.

Grand Lodge 5/5

Delievering a touch attack for a spell cast is part of a class ability. Activating a magic item to deliver touch spells is not.

While this does not have anything to do with touch attacks, this still won't work. At least, all the time.

A monkey familiar (tumor) could be allowed magical items in its hands slot. The item doesn't necessarily say that using it as part of an attack is 'activating it.' But, by even a modestly strict reading, it counts as activating.

The gloves are a magical item. Even if the description does not describe anything more than a mundane item... But still, it is a magical item that must be activated(having a choice in its use). Some GMs may let it fly, but don't expect it to be allowed everytime.

You are better off with something like Touch Injection, which will always work. Made even better with the infusion discovery. You can drink the Touch Injection elixer, than use the Share Spells ability to pass it on to the familiar.

Or, you could always have the familiar force feed you.

Or, since a touch spell is held indefinitely, you could have the familiar drink an infusion and deliver the spell at any time. Just make sure it doesn't touch anything until it is time to deliver the spell.
