Skyler, there may be a new retirement arc coming out, but I'm not sure. I am assuming that you've already completed Eyes of the Ten? Have you looked into getting a Wardens of the Reborn Forge group together. It has a Seeker mode, and is a lot of fun. Be sure you get a balanced group, and prepare for a long journey.

I like how you assume that our characters aren't going to die before hitting level twelve, Andrew. It's adorable. ;-)
I don't think he makes that assumption, just that, for most PCs, dying after a certain point is little more than a speed bump.
I am fairly sure that all my Level 12 and higher PCs have died at least once along the way.
Kinevon, Fighter (Polearm Master) has been BoLed at least once there, too.
Callarek, Fighter with a longbow, has died several times, including early on in one SPecial, where he got raised before the next Act by one of his party members.
Bruno, Fighter (Lore Warden)/Magus (Kensai), has been down multiple times.

I crit him with the Str damaging touch, dealing exactly his Str score in damage. Two rounds later, he rose as a shadow. The party killed the shadow, then brought what was left of him back. One resurrection/restoration spell later, he was back in action.

Granted I don't have a level 12+(I'm 3xp from getting there on my -1), but I have 6 or 7 characters that get played and I've never died. In fact I can count the number of player deaths I've witnessed on one hand. Granted I know of plenty more.... but its still perfectly reasonable to assume that you'll make it to 12. Hell there's a previous topic/ google doc listing tons of people who've done it.
Wait!!! Edit: I was petrified once and restored with basilisk blood! That counts as dead I guess. Totally forgot about that... maybe I'm repressing near death experiences :)

Aww yes the ballad of Thorfin! The Mighty Paladin of Torag!
Lets see here, these deaths were from always playing up when I had the opportunity too (because why play in a tier that is fair? If it ain't worth dying, it ain't worth trying!), and having many scrolls of Breath of Life.
Death 1 - A crit from a magus, what Hostile waters they were!
Death 2 - A lesson well learned, never go down a hole in a sewer where the mounds of garbage shamble about!
Death 3 - Though the Song of the Sea Witch is beautiful, getting grappled by a tentacle monster and having them hold you underwater while stabbing you with a spear definitely is not...
Death 4 - The opera was nice until a cleric with a critical heavy pick decided to crash the party with their many hungry friends.
Death 5 - A horrible pallid plague was attacking the country side, like any good Paladin, I must go out and help end it. Even if there happens to be two very angry diseased bears that have an explosive personality in the way.
Death 6 - Large horrible black tentacles are a thing in the infernal vaults below the ground. And I believe it is best described as bad touch.
Death 7 - The Dragon Shall Be Scaled! And the paladin swallowed....
Death 8 - The Rebel had its ransom... and a sea hag can hold it's breath longer than a dwarf under water in a maze.
Death 9 - I think the greatest Heresy of Man is the discovery of spell called deeper darkness and how that benefits duel weapon rogue surrounded by characters that never experienced such a "neat" tactic.
Death 10 and 11 - Then again another heresy would be fighting two sarlacc's in the desert and then discovering how a rod of wonder can benefit a NOW large size monk...
Death 12, 13, and 14 - We entered into the dread realm of a fell-knight queen. And we learned that plant monsters can crash a wedding, Water Elementals are best fought not in the water, and Dryads with Tree stride in a under-defined environment with 2 negative levels and a bestow curse is just dumb.
Death 15 - What a year for the shadowlodge it was. Particularly with dragons in a surprise round!
Death 16, 17, and 18 - There is a dark place in a round mountain I know. Where Gugs roam wild and free. But most of all there is a dragon in the deep that has a new suit of armor and two tallies on my soul.
Death 19 - Oh and the pagoda we nice as well, until the Crystals started moving...
Death 20 - So there is a sea cave I know where a dragon lives down below. The tournament was a bland, the tapestry was grand, but several horrid wilting on a boat were unplanned!
And then there is the seeker play, but that is a tale for a different time!
and as always... MAAAATILDA!!!!

I was honestly speaking in jest, but that 'certain point' leaves a fair amount of room for having no choice but quartering your character sheet.
ii.) Dumon (Rogue 2/Wizard 1) is now scattered dust blowing across the deserts of Osirios.
c.) Dargun (Inquisitor 1) still walks the halls of a certain dungeon complex in the River Kingdoms, his eyes hinting at torment when not slaying those who still dare to enter.

Thorfin, how does your character have enough gold to be raised from the dead over 20 times, and still have enough left over to keep his gear on the right level to kill anything? Or, is that why you keep dying? Maybe Pharasma is trying to tell you something...
Thorfin did mention MANY scrolls of Breath of Life...
*dangit Steven, you ninja'd what I was about to say!*
Someone else pointed out 'blowing in the Wind' in Osirion. That *almost* happened to my -1. He got better.

I'm glad those have been immortalized Thorfin, now I can refer back here whenever I need to remember.
And for those wondering about his WBL curve with this many deaths. Thorfin currently has like 5 items at level 17. Matilida (+n something holy earthbreaker), Brunhilde (+n throwing/returning small earthbreaker), a ring of blinking and that's it? He may have some other token possessions but these three are all that I really know about. He had a +1 mithral full-plate of speed but it was used to pay some "Baird dragon tax."
And he's still a strong PC--paladin's don't need much but that smite evil & hero's defiance at higher levels.

I didn't think the shadow could make spawn since he's a shadow dancer companion?
Back on a new seeker arc... what would it look like? Considering the nature of Eot10, I don't even know if saving Armin Zey would do it justice. the elements of Eot10 are scattered across two seasons.
I don't think that that'll be it Matthew.
A recent attack on the Grand Lodge became all the more heinous when one of the invading agents employed an eldritch relic to abduct a high-ranking Pathfinder. In order to release the captive, the Society must understand the relic and track down the fleeing operative—a mission that leads the PCs into Absalom's most prestigious archives to uncover a dark secret.

I'd like something a bit closer to home. See, I love the Dominion, but let's get real: it's too far up there somewhere and it's too big to trounce. Meanwhile we have all these smaller, more personal threats hootenannyin' around while the Ten touch themselves in Skyreach or something: Onyx Alliance, the Pasha, Torch, Technic League, etc.
Sometimes it's like playing superheroes what with this expansive rogues' gallery.

Yeah I thought about it after posting, and you're right too big to trounce. But I don't know if I can get behind a mission to take down Torch though. He's one of my favorite characters. Blah blah blah "he turned on the society" blah. I know, but can you blame him? He probably just got tired of taking orders from a bunch of pricks who sit around touching themselves in Skyreach.
I'd be all about tackling the Technic League, but I feel like thats unlikely now that season 6 is over. The Onyx Alliance, or Pasha would both be interesting though. I could get behind that.
Wei Ji the Learner |
What about a retirement scenario about unmasking and possibly replacing some of the Ten? I could get behind that.
Maybe Lord Gyr is tired of having shadowy figures running an organization in his city and wants a bit less secrecy.
Political fallout from the Season Six finale and the Season Seven opener, perhaps?

According to Inner Sea Combat, she is a rogue 5 / assassin 4, which would seem to put her in position to be a contender for a BBEG in the 3-7 or 5-9 range. That said, I would be perfectly fine if she got some extra levels and showed up in a 7-11 or, be still my heart, another seeker arc. If they actually wrote another Seeker Arc, I hope it's big and climactic and we get to be big darn heroes as opposed to our original one, which was fun but mainly just felt to me like we were airing out our dirty laundry. If we want to go really crazy, have her show up as a henchman for an even crazier BBEG.
Things I would like to see in a Seeker Arc (not necessarily all of them together, but bonus points for as getting as many things in here as possible) :
-Absalom and Kortos, it just feels right.
-Lord Gyr, I always love to see me some rogues in positions of power
-Muhlia al-Jakri, I've got a few characters that would love to get some revenge for what she did.
-The truth about Durvin Gest.
-Varian Jeggare and Radovan, just cause.
-Eando Kline, see the reasoning for Varian and Radovan.
-Sheila and Canyaven Heidmarch, together in the same room, at the same time, just to prove without a doubt that they aren't the same person.
-The three Masters, together in action.
-The Foxgloves, some of our finest allies (did you catch the subtle double entendre?).
-EXPLOSIONS!!! Because I'm running out of ideas.
-Grandmaster Torch, can't believe I almost forgot him.
-Red Mantis Assassins, because if it's got Torch, it should have some of these guys too.
-Guaril Karela, this suave fellow has got to be in here somewhere.
-Zarta and the other faction leaders.
-This is where we find out that Colson Maldriss is actually a doppleganger, and has the real one locked in a foot locker somewhere.
-MOAR EXPLOSIONS!!!! Because this time I actually have run out of ideas.
-Just about forgot about the Aspis!
Oh, and I'd like to see it written by some sort of a collaboration of Thursty, the Care Baird, Jim Groves, and Alex Greenshields (one of my personal favorites). Oh, we should also toss John Compton in there too.
EDIT: Ack, forgot the Aspis, how could I forget the Aspis?

The problem is that 1-5 stuff gets reported much much more. 3-7 less, 5-9 less, and 7-11 less still. When Brock was talking about this last time he mentioned EotT had been reported less than 100 times, and that he was personally in on two of those reportings (GM/player).
It is the fact from a product standpoint they don't have that many people interested in high level play, so we should be thankful they do sanction modules. I'm just glad we have 7-11s and hope that we get more of those and less skewing toward 1-5 play.

Quintin Verassi wrote:Nothing wrong with people wanting more, just means that leadership is doing their job rightHonestly, I think the Seeker arcs coming out about once every 3-4 years is right...
Give it a couple of seasons and play the ones available right now is my suggestion.
As an addendum to my previous post, I have played Eyes and GM'd Wardens. While I greatly enjoyed Wardens, I liked Eyes more because it had a lot more to do with the Society and what my character that played it had been doing all her career. That same feeling is missing from Wardens. While some modules may get Seeker Arc status, I think a new Arc that is actually tied to the Society is warranted.

I would play the current arc before making suggestions for a new one. That way we wouldn't be suggesting any redundancies. I've seen a few.
Additionally, it would be best to divorce these from seasonal metaplots, and most NPC foils. That way you never have a seeker scenario or arc again whose hook and history becomes meaningless to newer players.

Speaking of that Andrew, a story arc about what happened to Durvin Gest would be awesome for never going out of style. Since the reasons will have happened in the timeline prior to Society play it would be unlikely to impact the game other than find potential motivations beyond the actions of some groups.
