On my worg-riding, Dark Archive-loving hunter (well, more hunter than anything else), I finally convinced someone at the table to swap factions. It only took over a year, but I finally convinced someone. So now as soon as I convince one more NPC to join DA I'll be able to bring along free consumables to aid the party--because Zarta loves me.
This is the first player I know that's switched using another player's faction discount. How often have you guys seen this happen?

I managed to convince the daughter of one of the Winter Witch rulers in the North to join the Dark Archive when my lodge ran From Beneath the Ice. NPC, sure. But VERY impressive feat since my character's level 1, and diplomacy was untrained. Especially with my 7 charisma.
I convinced her to switch to Soverign court. Best bit of all? My PC is a half-snowcaster elf Jadwiga who's the legacy charater for my Eot10 seeker, who was herself a winter witch. :-)

I'm glad they didn't repeat that goal on the S7 cards.
I know. The only reason I even asked is because I have that card almost entirely filled out and it's just because a thing I shout out after every session. I've started going into more detail about it. We were at a party in this session and I went on about how droll this party was compared to those that Zarta throws and how she gives out the best boons to her faction members.
It also has one of the easier sets of goals to check off and really does have the best rewards (though the season 7 2-goal reward is far inferior to the season 6 2-goal reward).

I imagine you might see more PCs convinced to switch if it didn't cost as much as it potentially did.
or if the cost could be paid by the Sponsor rather than the person switching (or even partly paid by them).
Which would even make some sense. I'm recruiting you into my faction. That is putting my reputation on the line - it should reflect on my Prestige...

I would've been totally ok with that.

I agree that having the recruiter pay the cost is better.
The main group that I could see being swayed by recruitment offers, at least from what I have gathered from our local PFS scene, would be newer players that either A. just defaulted to Grand Lodge b/c they didn't know the factions or B. find out that the faction they picked wasn't quite what they were expecting. Forcing new players to spend extra prestige, especially when they are--by nature--more likely to need that prestige for raise dead, is a bad idea imo.
