Racial Heritage (Cloud Giant) interactions.

Rules Questions

Hi guys.

I have a question about Racial Heritage and its interactions, when taking a Giant race as specifics for the feat.

Due to not getting the Giant subtype, how does it interact with things like the dwarves' Defensive Training racial trait or the rangers' Favored enemy class feature ?

Prerequisite: Human.

Benefit: Choose another humanoid race. You count as both human and that race for any effects related to race. For example, if you choose dwarf, you are considered both a human and a dwarf for the purpose of taking traits, feats, how spells and magic items affect you, and so on.

For almost any purposes I can than of, race and subtype are interchangeable for humanoids.

Therefore, you would count as a giant for any such effect, even though your actual subtype does not change.

Thus, do I count as a giant for feats/traits requiring the giant subtype ?

Feats and traits are not effects. It does mean however that an arrow of giant slaying is bad news for you.

What specific feat are you trying to qualify for? You may or may not depending on the feat. If it only requires being a giant, you would qualify. If it requires a specific ability such as heated rock, you would not.

I was specifically wondering about things like Will of Giants, which has "Wis 14, Iron Will, giant subtype" as prerequisites.
