Differences between 6.0 and 7.0?

Pathfinder Society

Is there a list of changes between these two versions of the guide?

I'm contemplating (again) playing Pathfinder Society, but my character generator of choice these days (YAPCG) is set up for 6.0. I don't want to screw up a completely new game if I can at all help it.

(Plus, if I can get a set of changes, I can send it on to the programmers of that to get it added to the generator.)

Dark Archive 1/5

6.0 is written for season 6 I believe. While 7.0 is written for season 7 (current season). there's retired factions, changed factions, and other intrigue type stuff. Such as the Scarab Sages faction I think is new to season 7, replacing an older faction. Faction goals can also change from season to season.

Dataphiles 3/5

The faction changes happened between seasons 5 and 6.

You sure? local PFS group ran part 1 and 2 of Destiny of the Sands so far, which I think are season 6. And they are clearly setting up for a faction change meta arc. *double checks* Oh, guess I was wrong. Looks like it was a season 5 arc. Not sure what changed then besides faction goals. Probably rules clarifications and the like though.

Guys, what he's asking for is a changelog. I don't know that there is an official one, though they used to do one (I have an old file on my computer that's a changelog from 4.3 to 5.0).

Grand Lodge 4/5 **** Venture-Captain, California—Sacramento

A lot of clarifying language.

Not many rules changes as far as I can tell.

Nothing that I know of that would affect character generation.

Things that would affect character generation should all be in the Additional Resources.

Things that happened between seasons 5-6 are:

Faction changes.
Aasimar and Tiefling require boons
Kitsune, Wayang, and nagaji do not require boons.

And yes, I know he wants a changelog. There isn't one and probably won't be. My impression was that they moved and clarified so much language that a changelog would be hard to put together with a simple diff.

Yes, exactly that.

The current version lists the following factions: Dark Archive, Liberty's Edge, Scarab Sages, Sovereign Court, The Exchange, The Grand Lodge, The Silver Crusade. That seems to match the current version, so I'm not particularly worried about that.

I was more thinking about things specifically relevant to character creation. Class/Race clarifications or availability - for example, I think Aasimar were once allowed but no longer are, and I don't know if that's a change from 6.0 to 7.0 or if it's from an earlier version. (I have a copy of the 5.0 one, which includes Aasimar, but not 6.0, so I don't know.)

Silver Crusade

That change happened before 6.0, so no worries there. The faction traits don't seem to have changed, so as far as I can tell there shouldn't be any differences greatly affecting character generation.

No change of Races from 6.0 to 7.0 then what was already in affect before (and already mentioned). Day job is now called Downtime. They added in the Occult classes into the HP table. Updated the changes in classes. (page 8. Most notable is the Summoner) They took out all the Coordinator information, due to space limitations. Updated Overall Faction goals for season 7, and included a blurb on Faction cards, which where introduced middle of last season. There are likely some small things I am missing, but those are the ones I can think of.

You can now choose to play slow or normal track by session, rather than by level.

In my view, this is the biggest change.

There is also the fact that to play a summoner you have to use the Unchained Summoner and you can also now use the Unchained Rogue, Barbarian, and Monk. Also, the occult classes are available.

They took out the Coordinator information so that people could go to the Regional Coordinators Page rather than to work off of a contact list that may be months out of date.

It's my favourite change. Makes it soooo much easier to play scenarios with the PC I want, when I want, without worrying he'll out-level something else coming up next week I also want too play with that PC.

Grand Lodge 4/5

There was some changes to certain race availability, class availability, and early access to PrCs.

Aasimar & Tieflings are only grandfathered in if they had at least one XP, playing as said race, before August 14, 2014, or have a race boon in their stack (That the right year?).
APG Summoner was banned form PFS except for Summoners who had been played at 2nd level or higher before the ban date.
Unchained Summoners are now the standard for all new Summoners, instead.
Early Access to PrCs using SLAs was removed, and only PCs who had played for at least one XP with the PrC already were grandfathered in at the time.
Tengu remained legal.
Wayang, Kitsune and Nagaji have become legal, no boon required, races.
Again, I am unsure of the exact dates for all of these.

Also, as mentioned in passing, Core mode has been added, which is a variant of PFS using just the CRB, the Web Character Trait document, and the PFSOP Guild Guide. The Guide should have the list of legal languages and a few other things added to the Core campaign for ease, like adding non-Core spells to a spellbook or spontaneous caster's known spell list..

There were some freebies available for some of the campaign changes, like a free faction change during Season 6, and free rebuilds for Monks, Barbarians, Summoners, and Rogues into their Unchained versions before they were played again after the Pathfinder Unchained book was released.

Also note the recent errata releases for the APG, ACG, etc.

Although, most character generators don't keep track of what races used to be allowed but aren't... Many of my PCs in Hero Lab have red flags because their race is no longer allowed but they are legal because of grandfathering.

You always need to check your PC manually. No 3rd party software is going to be 100% correct or up to date.

Dark Archive 1/5

Although Hero Lab does come close. They regularly update it. Still, there's no way for it to account for things like convention boons or chronicles granting access to something normally not allowed in the format.

Actually, I believe that is handled by ShadowChemosh's add-on, with an adjustment that can let you mark a PC's race, feat, etc. as legal.

Dark Archive 1/5

You can still add them, just you get a validation flag saying it's not allowed.

Do you have a link to that add-on? And/Or, a way to implement it?

It is on Wolf Lair's HeroLabs forum, and should be one of the stickied threads at the top.

Edit: The thread should contain full instructions on installing and using the add-in, and how to choose which one of the three choices to go with, since there is a player, GM, and heavy duty GM option for the add-in.

I am at work right now, and may not be able to get there.

General forums link I think, but it is old, and blocked at work these days.

And don't you need the authoring kit to use any of those user created add ons? Which I don't have.

Silver Crusade 1/5 Contributor

I didn't need an authoring kit. I don't remember how I did it, though; I'm somewhat tech-illiterate, so one of my players walked me through it.

Liberty's Edge

You don't need the authoring kit, instructions to install ShadowChemosh's packs (which are how you get the adjustments now) are available here: http://forums.wolflair.com/showthread.php?t=51966

So what races are currently allowed without a boon.

The Authoring Kit, is for designing whole new systems, like say adding a module for 5th Age or some such.
