Acrobatics and movement through an enemy square without an AoO

OK, strange situation.

Acrobatics reads, "In addition, you can move through a threatened square without provoking an attack of opportunity from an enemy by using Acrobatics. When moving in this way, you move at half speed. "

What if you're not trying to avoid the Attack of Opportunity, but simply using Acrobatics to move through the enemy's space?

Do you still move at half speed? Or can you move at full speed and take the AoO?

In the specific case I'm interested in, the opponent is grappled and so cannot make an AoO. So it seems like I can tumble through his square at full movement, but I've never, ever, seen it done. What do you all think?

That would be an Overrun combat maneuver.

Next sentence after the section you quote: "You can move at full speed by increasing the DC of the check by 10."

2 people marked this as a favorite.

So you can use Acrobatics with a DC of CMD+15, or Overrun with a DC of CMD

Remember that if he is grappled, he is also going to be taking penalties to Dex which affects both AC and CMD.

Grand Lodge

Same DC. Even if he cannot make an AO, the enenmy still occupies the space you want to move through. So you have to jump, tumble, etc around him.

And you can take the AoO and continue your movement if you are going around an enemy and fail the Acrobatics check, but if you fail while trying to move through, you're movement is stopped. So, no, you can't just take the AoO and move through his square.
