D&D Starter Set - 5E what's in it?

4th Edition

I know there's the Lost Mines adventure, pregen PC's, dice set etc.
Is the rule book basically the same as the free online basic ruleset from the WOTC site, just with color, art etc? I'm guessing yes.

Sovereign Court

It is not, actually. The "basic rules" from the box set do not have rules for character creation. It's... let me think. It's equipment, some very scant spells, combat, basic rules (the dice rolling, advantage, etc)...

Honestly, it stops being terribly useful after the first few sessions. Although i will say that it is nice to have at the table to reference in case someone wants to look up a basic rule and someone else is looking at the PHB.

But I'm looking to print another few basic rules manuals and photocopy the class rules for my players so that they can have more comprehensive rules. Seriously, it's lightyears better. I kind of wish that they had just packaged that into the box set, and maybe they will in the coming years.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

I LOVE that cheat sheet with all the Action types on it. I think it even has some basic alchemical items on it for ease of use.
