So first of all hi, I have made posts before about things but that has been for my home group, now I'm after joining PFS, I have read the guide and I'm just a bit iffy on some of the things, Must a make the PFS character under the alias of this account and then introduce them to the faction they wish to join?

Thanks for you time.

Yes, you should register a character (this will be your -1, that is to say your number xxxxxx-1, or first character). They should have a faction.

Helpful Blog for starting with PFS.

Hopefully we can help! Feel free to ask additional questions if you need to.

All you really need to do is just register a new character number and start playing! After that just hold onto the physical Chronicle Sheets that character acquires.

Some people (I'm one of them) will make elaborate profiles for their characters with lists of equipment, feats, traits, etc., link everything, and do full background write ups.

Some people just register their characters and that's it. The name online doesn't even need to match what you put on your Chronicle Sheet (so "Bob Dragonstomper" might be "John Smith123" online).

Either way is perfectly fine.

There's no formal "introduction". There used to be a series that your character could play through that would do just that, and by the end you'd pick which Faction seemed most relevant to your abilities and flavor, but some of those Factions were retired, and two of the three scenarios were retired as well.

Nowadays you pretty much just begin play with the Faction you think your character would belong to. Luckily, before you level up to 2nd level, you can change your Faction, so if you played a couple games and just decided that your starting Faction wasn't appropriate, you have the opportunity to jump ship without expending any resources to do so.

Yeah, the guides kinda dense and very detailed and not really good for picking up and getting a general overview. If it all possible you should really really try to catch a game somewhere and go through the process with people that know it a time or two.

The game finder is in limbo, so if you want to try this, the best way is usually to say "I'm in x area" and someone from that area or close to it will know where to point you. There's a list of venture critters , but that's only really useful for finding games if you're very close to the the larger cities.

registering the character is helpful for the DM reporting it: makes it easier/more accurate to fill in the number.

Using the faction boards to say hi is fun, but even more optional.

You cannot possibly waste my time. In face please try :) . Ask any questions that come up, and there will be a LOT of them. Getting a big picture view of how this works is a little rough if you haven't seen it before.

One more, I have been using a Pathfinder App for quite sometime as my rulebook, what is PFS stand point on them, one of my friends has the core rulebook and advanced players rulebook and we mainly just them when we need book stuff but how does PFS look at Apps with all the details?

If you're playing in a home game it really doesn't matter. if you're at a convention or a game day you're supposed to have access to anything other than the core rulebook (enforcement varies greatly by location, and how big your geek bag is) and most apps like hero lab don't count.

If you're doing point by with an app you're good, its definitely more accurate than I am..
