Holy Tactician: Can he share more than one teamwork feat at once?

Rules Questions

Question on the Holy Tactician Paladin.

Battlefield presence state:
At 3rd level, a tactician can direct her allies in battle, granting each ally within 30 feet one teamwork feat she possesses as a bonus feat as a standard action. All allies must receive the same feat, but do not need to meet the prerequisites of this bonus feat. This ability does not function if the paladin is flat-footed or unconscious. Allies must be able to see and hear the holy tactician in order to gain this benefit. Changing the bonus feat granted is a swift action.

It has no listed duration, and it doesn't say granting a feat replaces the old one. The only limitation is that it shuts off when the paladin is flat-footed or unconscious.

Can a Holy Tactician therefore choose to spend 2-3 standard action before entering a dungeon in order to share 2-3 teamwork feats with the whole group for the duration of the adventure?

Vigilant Seal

you can only have 1 active at a time, hence the wording "Changing the bonus feat granted is a swift action."

the wording is somewhat ambigious since it doesn't explicitly mention the amount supplied.

"granting...one teamwork feat" "changing the bonus feat granted is a standard action"

I'm not sure it is that ambiguous. It requires a bit of a stretch to infer that you can grant more than one teamwork feat with this ability. There is no indication that you can have multiple iterations of the ability active, and 2 fairly strong indications that it is a single ability that is either active or not.

I agree with the two above. Only one teamwork feat active at a time.

I tend to agree with you guys, I had the case recently on one game where we had a paladin providing two teamwork feats to the group via this ability, it was absolutely awesome and made me want to build one as well. This now looks less appealing.

Are you sure both were from this ability? He could also have had levels in cavalier and have been providing one with that.

100% sure yes, was Pal 5/Hellknight 2. We kept both feat for the whole dungeon while the cav can only share it for a few rounds.

You're right. That doesn't sound like a cavalier dip. Cavaliers can share for a minute (ten rounds, not just a few) and have a limited number of times they can do so. If you run across this player (or the GM) again, I'd let them know they can only share one feat at a time with the Holy Tactician ability--or at least ask them how they were sharing more than one.

I do this with a Cavalier dip and a Bard dip (for Battle Song of the People's Revolt): technically, my Holy Tactician can do three feats at once (it takes two-three rounds, though).

She also has a brawler dip to learn new teamwork feats on the fly.

Dark Archive

I'm working on a guide for the holy tactician.

A subsection of the guide will cover maximizing the number of feats a character can grant to his allies simultaneously.

To answer your question: As others have stated, the tactician can only grant one feat at a time.

Can't wait to read it :) !!

Brawlers only get the benefit of feats. I would say that doesn't allow you to use abilities to share feats you know.
