Sorry, didn't realize it was my turn again.
Shandor, enraged by his utter failure, casts a more familiar spell.
DM Ranginui |
Magic missiles and dark energies tear into the flesh of the creature, seemingly to great effect; then, to the collected horror of the combatants the shadowy form of the Heart start to knit itself back together. The wound inflicted by Kris staunches itself as this shadowy plant monstrosity re-knits it's form.
The creature then lashes out again, biting at Kris and lashing out with tentacles at Leastrie and Baldwyn. Like little deft birds, the Pathfinders flit around the massive tentacles and maw.
Nicasor launches a pair of shadowy magic missiles at the creature, but they seem minimally effective.

Sensing its impending doom, the heart reacts violently, lashing out at Leastrie. The combination of force and acid knock the elf unconscious. Tentacles, meanwhile, lash out at its other source of great pain: Baldwyn. But the stubby tentacles bounce off the warriors thick armor!
The maw holds the unconscious elf warrior clutched within, threatening to swallow him!
Nicasor once again fires a shadowy scorching ray, but again it the Heart shrugs off most of the illusion.

Kris raises her heavy pick and goes for the X4 coup de grace!
Leastrie Oakenleaf |
Leastrie motions to the healing wand in his wrist sheath. "Can anyone use that on me? In case this things goes into death throes?"
If GM allows it, would retcon a swift action to produce the wand.
DM Ranginui |
As the pick smashes into the creatures head a wave of shadow erupts from it; the pulse of shadow passes harmlessly over the Pathfinders and throughout the complex. For a few seconds, nothing happens.
Slowly the wall behind Shandor starts dripping, as shadowy essence starts running down walls. Chuurock looks up as a small chunk of the ceiling splats on his face, and more small pieces appear to be dropping all around. One of the walls starts to sag.
DM Ranginui |
Nicasor doesn't bother to respond and swiftly moves for the stairs down the end of the east-most halls
Kris Gerntern |
Kris tries to keep up as best she can, though the inability to see anyone more than 60 feet out while only moving at 20 ft herself proves to be the biggest obstacle.
Shandor "The Beast" |
Shandor leaves with all due haste.
DM Ranginui |
The pathfinders follow Nicasor down the stairs. They make it halfway to the mirror when a magical darkness descends up on the group. The group slows and stumbles down the stairs, feeling the stairs melting into a thick goo underneath them as they walk. Moments later, a high pitch keen echoes throughout the realm, making it hard to think clearly; it only lasts for a few seconds, though. The Pathfinders continue to make their way to the slowly melting realm.
The group emerges from the cold, dark realm and into the warmth of the material realm. Small cracks can be seen to be forming on the outside of mirrors faces, slowly spreading.
The shadowy form of Nicasor blocks the exit, swords in hand.
"Hello, my saviors. I would have you know that I appreciate your freeing me. But I fear I must... renegotiate the terms of my release. Stepan, nay, every noble in Nidal will die for their crimes. As you were the instruments of my release, I will give you one chance to surrender. Walk away, and I promise no harm will come to you."
A female voice whispers in shadowy tones from the next room. You can see the female shae standing in the room, holding a stoic young Sorin, with the other Shae and Kayal standing about the room. "Uncle, the Boroi are bad, but we are free. Can we not simply move far away from Nidal and start over? There is so much of the world to see!"
The Shae identifying himself as Atamin speaks up, scolding his daughter in Shadowtongue. The two begin arguing, while the Kayal meekly look at each other. The argument ends with the female shae storming upstairs Sorin in tow.
Nicasor seems unpeturbed by the argument, and stands awaiting your answer.

I think Baldwyn would have driven the mirror shard into the beast after it was slain, but hey, that's what I get for not posting, haha. Also, apologies for the reference.
Baldwyn's voice holds absolutely no surprise at all.
"Ah, curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal... To hell with this."
Unless someone steps in front of him or otherwise stops him, he'll step forward and initiate combat.

DM Ranginui |
The Shae are hardly surprised at the turn of events; still, Baldwyn brings down his polearm upon the betrayer's form before he can react.
"So be..." Nicasor begins to speak when Balwyn's powerful hit manages to strike true in spite of the blurring shadows which obscure the shae's form.
Corys also launches a shadowy magic missile at Baldwyn in the ensuing fracas.
Nicasor reels in pain. "You die first!. He steps up and strikes in a flashing fury of blades. Nicasor deftly strikes three times, the last being short blade in his left hand slashing across Baldwyn's throat. All the strikes burn with a biting cold.
The Shae are excitedly yelling at Atamin and pointing at towards the altar in the other room.

Can't see map atm. Based on what I saw this morning, there is probably not enough room for Spring Attack.
DM Ranginui |
Leastrie has enough room to spring attack.
Leastrie brings his curved blade down in an especially vicious manner, but Nicasor's amorphous form proves to lack a vulnerable anatomy.
Atamin raises his finger as if to summon a spell, but not at the Pathfinders. The iron maiden, once decorating the altar of Zon-Kuthon, can be seen to be moving of it's own volition, smashing into one of the unfortunate Kayal. Half the Kayal attack the iron maiden ineffectually, their blades bouncing off it's metal hide; the other half flee. Atamin launches a pair of shadowy magic missiles at something in the back. Corys can be seen targeting the same for.
A high, shrill voice can be heard from the back.
"Stepan may be a weak coward, but none shall judge him but the Midnight Lord!"
It appears the pathfiners have found an unlikely ally in Stepan's ghostly aunt.

Also, is this guy a Knowledge Religion or Planes (or other!) roll to ID? Even if he is undead, he's likely got WAY too many HD to control, but just some wishful thinking.
Baldwyn Doucas |
Baldwyn opens his eyes with a gasp of air as his wounds magically heal. Seeing an orc's undercarriage far closer than he would like, Baldwyn stands up (yes, provoking, can't do much else), sidles behind Chuurock, and grabs his hammer from the ground.

DM Ranginui |
A minor war rages in the background as the six engage in their own battle with Nicasor. The remaining Kayal, totally impotent against the construct or the ghost, flee up the stairs. Meanwhile, dark pulses of energy issue forth from somewhere in the far room, while the shae respond with shadowy magic missiles.
Closer to the Pathfinders, Nicasor lashes out in a whirling dance of blades again; the hand of Pharasma intervenes and protects Chuurock bin Ausk from evil. Only one of the blows lands true, which slices into his legs.
I moved Leastrie back into the room. I don't think spring attack allows you to go through an enemy, and I don't recall an acrobatics roll being made. You can still spring attack through your allies, as I understand the rules.
