[PFS] How to get pack flanking without 13 int

Advice

Hello everyone
I'm playing a verminous hunter and I have just realized that during my level 2 rebuild, I shot myself in the proverbial foot. I forgot what I needed 12 INT for, so I got rid of it in favor of higher starting wisdom - as a result, I won't be able to qualify for pack flanking when I had hoped to do so. Is there any way for me to fix this, or should I give up on getting the feat?

there's no way other than getting a high enough int, it's not a combat feat for brawler or swashbuckler to work for. And I don't know of any way to get it as a bonus feat without pre-reqs. So I think you're out of luck. :(

Maybe.

You're asking in the PFS forums so I'll assume this is for pfs. If not 2/3 still apply.

If you're still level 1 you can rebuild your character and tweak your stats a bit.

When you hit level 4 or 8 you could increase your intelligence by 1. Increasing a lower stat this way is less point buy efficient than increasing a higher stat but its not the end of the world.

You could buy a headband of intelect +2, or get an ioun stone that adds to your int.

The dirty tactics toolbox has a feat that lets you count as having a 13 int for most feats along with some other benefits. The book has yet to be added to the additional resources so you may have to wait for a bit.

That might work, but it might not. Here is the language from that feat:

Pack Flanking is not an improved combat maneuver feat, nor a feat that has any of those as a prerequisite. Many GMs would allow it, but many would not.

The rest of what BNW said is correct, but the feat from Dirty Tactics Toolbox won't work in this case. That feat only works as a prereq for the improved combat maneuver feats, and feats that need the improved combat feats as prereqs.

Edit: Ninja'd while I was double-checking - although I will say RAW it doesn't work, despite the Fox's contention that some would allow it.

I would hope that there would be no PFS gms that allow it because it's pretty clear in what it does and doesn't qualify for.

no but people finally don't have to be above average intelligence to stick their foot out in front of someone without getting smacked for it(beforehand at least) ;p

The OP said he was going to start with an int of 12 to get to 13 at lv4, but he changed his int down to 10 so he'd need the headband and the lv4 to get to 13, but that's a large investment early, thus he was looking for a loophole.

I was going to suggest a level in brawler to get Brawler's Cunning, but pack flanking isn't a combat feat, which is surprising as most of them regarding melee combat actions/benefits are. :|

Sovereign Court

The feat is worth the headband.

Not likely but whats your charisma? Swashbucklers can substitute charisma in place of int.

How about the ring of tactical precision and find someone to imbue it.

A little pricey compared to a +2 headband, but I guess it depends on how low you've dropped intelligence, and how easy it is to find someone to imbue it for you as to whether it's worth it.

Only for combat feats. If pack flanking were a combat feat, this wouldn't be as big a problem.

My intelligence is 10, so a headband will work just fine - I guess I'll just have to wait until I can get one of those then. Thanks!

That is a wonderful item but is in no way helpful in this situation. That ring requires a daily recharge so he'd have to always be seated at the table with someone who already knows the feat so they can recharge it for him.

And while I'm posting here again. If you care, please support my petition to make Pack Flanking a combat feat found HERE.
