Occult Adventures: Skill Unlock questions

Rules Questions

OK... I just got the Occult Adventures book and 2 questions popped out to me regarding Skill Unlocks...

1) Phrenology:
Can a character using this ability to pierce through a magical effect disguising yourself, such as Disguise Self, Alter Self, ir a polymorph effect?

2) Prognostication:
Could a reading be done on someone not present? For example, a party uses this ability to find out information of a wizard they are planning on coming up against.

Another question...

These "psychic" skill unlocks... what kind of ability are they?
Extraordinary, Supernatural, or Spell-like?

I'm inclined to say Supernatural, as they do reproduce various spell effect (detact, augury, etc...) However, this is called out anywhere, as this can have an effect with various abjurations... Such as Nondetection.

If they are Su or Sp, how is their caster level determined, such as with Nondetection... Just use your character level?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

They are not supernatural abilities, they are skill usages. They all require a significant amount of time to active. They are more like disabling a lock than casting a spell.

In a similar vein, if you are a sorcerer that has the psychic bloodline, do you have access to these Skill Unlocks? I believe so, based on being a psychic caster which is one of the possible prerequisites for use of them.

Psychic spell casting is the only thing required for skill unlocks so yeah ı guess.Sorcerer with a psyhic bloodline gets skill unlock authomaticly.
