Sparring?

could two players possibly have their characters spar or basically a practice fight? is there some kind of rule or set up that would help that work?

Grand Lodge

It could be done as roleplay only.

Indeed, or you could use non-lethal weapons and damage.

You could have them both fight non-lethally and just waive the -4 to hit for the purposes of the sparring session. That way it resembles a real fight in pretty much every fashion and has very little risk of death.

Except Ninjas like me don't use nonlethal damage.

Non-Lethal Combat + Duel Rules?

I'd use the dueling rules with non-lethal damage.
EDIT: Ninja'd by Milo.

Attack Non-Lethal USING the actual -4 penalty, but you could remove the armor from both combatants or provide only minimal armor (so no more than a chain shirt). The equipment itself would be agreed to or decided on by the duelists, so that's irrelevant, but I would actually impose the penalty for effect and I feel that the moderately increased whiffing would be more flavorful for a duel where the combatants are holding back for one reason or another.
