Can Telekinetic Haul move Allies in combat?

Rules Questions

I am thinking of different ways to use the Aether Kineticist. I tend to be the power gamer of the group so I am looking for something that has a lot of flexibility but a low power ceiling to make up for my lack of self control.

The Aether Kineticist has a great many tools for battle field control while still having a very interesting damage mechanic. One of the most effective if basic combos I can see is using Telekinetic Haul to move melee fighters within 5ft steps of targets and moving troubled allies out of harms way. So my question is, is there anything to prevent me from using telekinesis modified by telekinetic haul to move willing living allies, which quickly leads to what about unwilling targets.

Your thoughts are appreciated.

You would need telekinetic finesse and perform drag or reposition manuevers on your allies.

The ability says that it works as Mage Hand except for where it makes distinctions in the difference. The spell Mage Hand as well as this ability both reference moving objects only. This means you cannot move creatures and also you cannot move attended objects per the spell Mage Hand.

Hmm I think I see where you are going, referencing telekinetic maneuvers rather than basic telekinesis. Sadly neither drag or reposition are listed as maneuvers that the spell telekinesis can do or the expansion based on telekinetic finesse.

Is there any RAW options for an Aether Kineticist to move allies?

Well technically you could use Foe Throw, but I don't think that's a way most allies would appreciate.

Alternatively using Telekinetic Haul to move some large object they are standing on could be possible perhaps?

Honestly I think the problem is the way that powers are seperate when I don't think that's the way the kineticists would really work if removed from the restrictions of a game's mechanical limitations. I imagine the word count crunching caused by editing didn't help Mark's creation at all either.

Crap, I missed that. Still, since you can trip with TK Manuevers, I would say you can Drag or Reposition based on this blog. Worst Case, you could bull rush them.

Under the Foe Throw thought I guess you could do the loose grip version of Telekinetic blast and only cause one handed improvised weapon damage plus your con mod rather than your full Telekinetic blast damage. That might be further abusing the ability to get something that most likely was intended by other powers.

To that end I have seen some of Mark's comments about word count and it is entirely possible one of the abilities were intended to move allies but with rules as written did not happen. Word count is another reason why I wish the electronic version could just ignore all the printed version restrictions.

I feel like sometimes word count is just a terrible idea to begin with. If there really, really is no way to cut out fluff instead of important work, I'd be okay with an errata link listed in the back of the book that clarifies things edited by word count immediately.

Anyways, I'd consider the reverse. Move foes into range or away from team mates with foe throw. Full damage, same effect for any situation not involving crowds. You can't toss the barbarian 5 people and you can't save the bard from 6, but you can throw one of the bards 6 people to land prone adjacent to the barbarian. ^-^

If ı remember correctly. An unattended object could be a your allies armor if they are willing or helpless.I am pulling the definition from dnd though. And one more thing you can move objects and you can drop them right? So if ı am a level 6 kineticits and ı can find a rock
That has a wieght of 6000 pounds and drop that on my enemy.Whould 1d6 per 200 pound rule still apply?

Foe Throw plus intentionally miss?

If you can use 3pp stuff, Kineticists of Porphyra has Friend Throw (a 3rd level wild talent that works like the Telekinetic Charge spell), and Kineticists of Porphyra 3 has Telekinetic Grasp (a 4th level wild talent that lets you lift living creatures similarly to the Telekinesis spell.)
